Mrs. Jesse Creighton Woolworth, wife of the late five and ten-cent store magnate, is dead at New York. Mrs. Roy Snivefy, wife of a Can ton (Ohio) lumber dealer, shot and killed her two children, Caroline, six month sold, and Williard, 6, and ended her own life. W. T. Burt, 45, vice president of the Wheeling Steel Corporation, Wheeling, W. Va., was instantly killed and John Sargent. Dormant, Pa., was seriously injured when their automobile crashed into a steep pole at Washington, D. C. There is no race suicide on the farm, the Sears Roebuck agricultural foundation at Chicago states. But the only effect of this is to enrich the cities, the foundation said. The House Judiciary Committee has completed its hearings on the fifty-nine beer bills. None of the bills will be reported out. Mrs. Evelyn Sue Rickner, on trial in Federal Court at Anniston, Ala., for the slaying of her husband, Lieut. James C. Rickner, at Camp McClellan last June, fainted while reciting a story of harsh treatment by her husband, and had to be carried from court.

Miller, head of the Panama mission fie.d, was elected a bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church on the fourth ballot taken at the general conference here today. Miller Is one of the five bishops to be appointed to take the place of resignations tendered at this convention. POLICE WELL UNIFORMED Suggestions by Lighting Association Behind Time. The National Lighting Association, which has sent circulars to the police department suggesting certain methods of uniforming trafT.e policemen to make them more cm spicuous on street corners, is somewhat tardy with its ideas, according to Traffic Inspector Michael Glenn. Indianapolis traffiemen wear white helmets in the summer time and are equipped with white rubber boots and white rubber helmet protectors in case of rain. White gloves art also in the order of the day. The only suggestion not in use by the department is equipping men with white Sam Brown belts.
