SEN. RALSTON ON INSIDE TRACK’ IN DEMOCRATIC RACE Political ‘Dope’ Says Indiana Solon Assured of Nomination, Sertator Samuel M. Ralston. Indiana, has been assured the presidential nomination at the Derrtbcratic National convention opening in New York June 15, according to a dispatch from Washington today. According to the dispatch, the assurance was given the Indiana Senator following a recent conference at Ralston’s Washington hotel with Homer S. Cummings, Democratic National committeeman and former National party chairman. Senator Royal S. Copeland, New York, and other Democratic leaders. Senator Copeland will be the Vice Presidential nominee, the dispatch said' Democratic circles at Washington have word that the boom for Governor A1 Smith of New York will be turned into a Ralston delegation at the convention and that present activities of the New York Governor is to hold intact the New England. New York. Pennsylvania and othet eastern delegations so they may be swung to the Indiana man at the proper time and to present any pledging to the band wagon. May 10.—Without discussion the Senate and House conferees on the new immigration bill today surrendered to the wish of the House and altered their report on the measure to make the effective date of Japanese exclusion July 1 next. TWe conferees met for barely five minutes in which they drew up anew report fixing the date as demanded by the House yesterday when it ordered the report revised, signed it and sent it back to the house, where it will probably be acted on this afternoon.
BERLIN RIOTS FEARED Precaution Taken as Nationals is Meet to Dedicate Monument. Bv United Pres * BERLIN, May 10.—Police took every precaution to preserve order in Halle today as communists openly threatened violence against the great Fascisti demonstration which will be held tomorrow in connection with dedication of a monument to General Von Moltke. * Field Marshal Von Hindenburg, General Ludendorf and a score of other military leaders of the old regime are scheduled to participate in the demonstration. Eighty special trains from throughout Germany will carry the nationalists to the demonstration. MAN’S BODY IDENTIFIED Charles Morrow, Found in River, Believed Suicide. Positive identification of a body found floating in White River near W. Raymond St. Friday, as that of Charles Morrow, 63, R. R. 3, Churchmann Ave. road, was made late Friday night by Mrs. Katherine Enders, of that address, where Morrow lived five years. The fact that Mrs. Enders said Morow had been in ill health for some time led polide to discredit a theory the man had met with foul play. Morrow, according to Mrs. Enders, left home Tuesday.
