Why Pay the Penalty of Lying Awake ? MANY people spend hours at night, restlessly tossing from side to side, waiting for sleep. All because they drink coffee with their evening meal. If the caffeine in coffee irritates your nervous system and keeps you awake when you should be asleep, recuperating your energies, why not stop coffee and drink Postum? Postum is a pure cereal beverage, absolutely free from caffeine or anything that can disturb health and comfort. Many prefer Postum for its delightful aroma and flavor. If you want to know the truth, change to Postum for a month or so, and see how much better you will sleep and feel. Postum for Health “There’s a Reason” \ Your grocer sells Postum in R EAL * two forms: Instant Postum [in tins] prepared instantly in rffpf the cup by the addition of boiling water. Postum Cereal j-Vy' [in packages] for those who INSTANT V prefer the flavor brought out ■ "POSTUM TlTcts by boiling fully 20 minutes. p •**.] The cost of either form is 1 about one-half cent a cup.

NCE you have the site for your garden selected, the next thing t- ■ ■ to do is get ready to plant it. If the surface ground is so hard it can not be spaded or plowed, a mattock should be tfsed and the soil broken to a depth of eight or ten inches. Plenty of manure should be turned under. But do not use sawdust and mill-shavings on garden lund. Nothing is gained by working the land before it is sufficiently dry. And remember that the longer rest you allow between spading and planting, the better your garden will grow. Plants do not live by water alone. They- require air, too. Break Ground And the only chance air has of reaching the roots is by- filtering into the ground after it has been turned and broken. To see if the soil is ready for planting after you have prepared it, press a 3mall quantity ir> the palm of the iPHid. If it is too wet for working it will
adlieie in a solid mass. But if dry enough to work it will crumble apart. Should conditions be favorable following this test rake and hoe the soil to a depth of four to five inches. Coal ashes have little value as fertilizer. Their function when employed is mainly to loosen the soil and make it workable. Jlotted leaves aJso make good fertilizer. But organic matter obtained from barnyards should he employed with earo, as it may burn the seeds if placed in direct contact with them. Best results are obtained with commercial fertilizers where there is plenty of manure or organic matter in the soil. Nitrate of soda is frequently used as a side dressing especially- with crops grown for their leaf value, rather than f. r fruit. An Ideal Soil The ideal soil is a dark, sandy loam rich In organic retentive ' matter to hold large quantities of moisture, which carry the crops through periods of drought. Be sure you have all debrij, such as tin cans, rooks and other trash removed from the land before planting. Expansive tools for the garden are n.t necessary. A good spade or spading folk, a hoe, a steel rake a trowel and a watering can are all the implements required for cultivation of the small plot. If weeds grow rank upon the land, it is a good Indication that the soil is pood. But don't plant any-thing near maples and oaks. These tree, steal the moisture arid food from the crops. RECIPE TO CLEAR A PIMPLY SI Pimples Are Impurities Seeking an Outlet Through Skin Pores, Pimples, sores and boils usually result from toxins, poisons and impuri- ' ties which are generated in the bowels | and then absorbed into the blood through the very ducts which should absorb only nourishment to sustain the body. It is the function of the kidneys to filter impurities from the glood and cast them out in the form of urine, but in many instances the bowels create more toxins and impurities than the kidneys can eliminate: then the blood uses the skin pores as the next best means of getting rid of these impurities, which often break out all over the skin in the form of pimples. The surest way to clear the skin of these eruptions, says a noted authority, is to get from any pharmacy alxiut four ounces of Jad Salts and take a tablespoonful in a glass of water each morning before hf-eakfast for one week. This will help prevent the formation of toxins in the bowels. It also stimulates the kidneys, thus coaxing them to filter the blood of impurities and dealing the skin of pimples. Jad Salts is inexpensive, and Is made from the acid of grapes nnd lemon juice, combined with lithia. Here you l ave a pleasant, effervescent drink which usually helps makes pimples disappear.—Advertisement.
