With resolutions adopted for opening of New York St. from Arsenal Ave. to Randolph St. and from Dorman Si. to the first alley east of Hne St., tho city has taken additional steps to care for increased traffic. The beard of works late Wednesday adopted the resolutions, which provide widening of the street to 100 feet and elimination of two dangerous jogs. Other streets ordered paved: Illinois St. from Forty-Sixth to Fifty-Second, $54,000, or $10.76 a lineal foot; Columbia Ave. from Twentieth St. to the Belt Railroad, $7,943.75, $5.87 a lineal foot: Columbia Ave. from Sixteenth to Twentieth, $24,000, $6.56 a lineal foot; Birch Ave. from Henry St. to Oliver Ave., $8,505.50, $6.50 a lineal foot; Boulevard PI. from Fofcty-Third to Forty-Sixth, $12,032, $3.70 a lineal foot. PARDON FOR DESERTERS Coolidge Proclamation Frees Such Military and Naval Prisoners. Bn Vmtcd Neice WASHINGTON, March 6.—President Coolidge late Wednesday issued a proclamation granting amnesty and pardons to all military or naval deserters during or since the World War. The pardons do not apply to slackers or persons who evaded service, but only to those who were actually in the service and deserted. The proclamation also waivers the forfeiture of deserters’ rights of citizenship. Activities of Realtor Probed Bn United Press FT. WAYNE, Ind., March 6.—Federal authorities today started an investigation of the activities of Carlton Hadsell, real estate dealer, who is charged with defrauding the First National Bank here of $7,000.
