OLD MINSTREL DAYS RETURN 10 MURAT FOR BRIEF VISIT Indianapolis Drum Corps Show Opens Two-Day Engagement. Tambourines shake, feet prance and endmen crack their jokee about people we know. This is just to announce the fact that the old minstrel days have returned, although it is dressed up in modern attire. The Indianapolis Drum Corps Minstrels opened a two-day engagement at the Murat Tuesday night. A large audience greeted the entertainerr. The minstrel part is placed an a boat setting. The singers and inter locutor are in white navy attire and the endmen are in blackface and dressed in the regulation minstrel attire. F. W. Yeaman, who has produced a number of successful minstrels, directed this show. The endmen are Ray Kenny, Clarence Zartwell. Carlos Jones (who has been with Coburn minstrelsl. Wayne Owens, Cha -les Crumbo, Carl Heckman, John C. S. Weedman, Emerson >Pbville, Roy Aired, Mr. Wilson and Dick Ring. Owens; “Indiana Moon,” by Mr. Griffin: "Laughing Song,” by E. B. Russell and many others. The novelty work of Russell, Ring and Smith showed that they have had much experience in minstrel work. John Umbarger was interlocutor and introduced the singers and paved the way for the jokes. About seventy-five men took part in j the minstrel. The second part of the j show was given over to specialties. The show was nicely mounted, tspeI dally the minstrel first part. It will be repeated again tonight.

The Item of theatrical profits, in adition to salary, is not as large as one might anticipate. The original Jolson productions are so ebstly to equip and operate that “show profits” are comparatively small. Jolson opens Thursday night at the Murat in “Bombo.” •M- -I* TWO HEADLINE .ACTS ON WEEK END PALACE BILL Two acts will vie for headline honors on the nw bill to be offered at the Palate Thursday and the rest of this week. They are “The Old Fool,” a comedy drama in four scenes, written by Jimmy Conliri, and Tad Tiennin's Collegians. “The Old Fool” features Harry Anger. Netta Packer and Madelyn Shone. Their press agent describes the act as a bit of “mash, dash, flash and splash.” As for Tad Tieman's orchestra, it Is featuring “Pinkie” Dees, who leads in a round of eccentric musical nonsense, syncopation and songs. Joe Bennett, comedian, will present “Dark Moments.” a one-man travesty. The Follies Sisters will appear in musical comedy, with a display of gowns.and chatter. A dancing revue has been promised as the fifth ingredient on the bill.
