WITNESSES TELE Upw FUGITIVE HID IN INDIANAPOLIS Friends’ Testify at Chicago Murder Trial of Katherine Malm, How Katherine Malm, called “The Yoif Woman,” on trial in Chicago for nurder committed in an attempted iold-up, hid in an Indianapolis rooming house with two revolvers always her'command, has been told by witnesses in the trial. The defendant was arrested after the Indianapolis police captured Jimmy Donnelly, wanted in Chicago for a .liold-up, whom Katherine sent to the Indianapolis postoffice for her mail. The principal witness for the State was Blanche King, who said she lived with the defendant in an Indianapolis rooming house. She declared that Katherine had confessed assisting her 'husband,” Otto Malm, in the murder of Edward Lehman. Miss King testified that Katherine always carried a revolver strapped around her waist and that whenever the doorbell rang she ran out into a dark hall and hid. jikrl L Hines, also giving his adas Indianapolis, told of the defendants hiding here. He said he used to be a pie salesman and that now ,ie is a chauffeur. Indianapolis police say they know neither Hines nor Miss King.

The original of this picture, which represents George Washington at the battle of Princeton, hangs in the Cleveland (Ohio) Museum of Art. It was painted by Charles Willson Peale. famous American artist, who died in 1827. and depicts Washington at the height of his military career.

MRS. W. F. C. GOLT DIES OF ILLNESS Wife of Bank Official Succumbs to Pneumonia, Mrs. Bettie Beatty Golt, 406 E. Thirteenth St., wife of W. F. C. Golt, vice president of the Fletcher American National Bank, died of pneumonia at her home early today. For the last seven years she has been In 111 health. She was the daughter of David S. Beatty, a well-known pioneer resident of the city, and spent her entire life here. She is survived by her husband, a son, George Beatty Morris of Chicago, and a sister. Miss Zcralda W. BOARD’S RULE OPPOSED C. of C. Educational Committee Dislikes Method of Teacher Retirement. Opposition to the rule of the Indianapolis school board providing for automatic retirement of teachers after forty-five years of service has been voiced by the education committee of the Chamber of Commerce. A resolution asking that the rule be rescinded was adopted by the committee Thursday. It stated that “a more equitable plan of retirement can be found than one based solely on length of service, especially where it has no relation whatever to age.” Ice Fall Victim Improves Dr. Andrew Ward of Danville, Ind., is slightly improved today at the Methodist Hospital, where he was removed from his home in Danville, Ind., following a fall on the ice near his home Tuesday. PATROLMAN IS SUSPENDED Failure to Report for Duty Since Feb. 1 Is Charged. Petrolman Orva Weinirger, 607 N. Dele-vare St., today was under suspension. Police Chief Herman F. Riklioff said charges of unbecoming conduct would be filed. Weininger, according to Inspector Walter White, has not reported for duty since Feb. 1 and Lieutenant Drinkut and Eisenhut, said they were unable to find him at home on several occassions. Weininger said he was incapacitated by a paralyzed nerve in an arm. New Hook Store Opens A Hook Drug Company store haa been opened at the southwest corner of Ohio and Delaware Sts., in a room formerly occupied by the Pierson Drug Company.
