RULES BY WHICH CITIZENSHIP IS ACQUIRED GIVEN Misunderstanding Concerning Naturalization draws Statement, Due to misunderstandings and inquiries concerning naturalization of aliens, Miss Margaret Mahoney, deputy county clerk, today issued the following “Facts for Citizenship.” “First papers may be taken out any time after arrival in the United States. After two years and not later than seven years, application must be made for second papers if the applicant has lived continuously in the United States for five years pre&ous to applying for second papers and in this State one year prior to that time. "First papers are void for any purpose after seven years. The applicant must start over again. “Naturalization of the husband does r.ot naturalize the wife now. It does naturalize the children under twentyone. “Women must be naturalized the -ame as men. Women who married aliens prior to Sept. 22, 1922, lost citizenship, and must now become naturalized. If an alien women married a native born man before that date, she is a citizen. An alien widow or wife of an alien who became naturalized after Sept. 22, 1922. become naturalized without first papers and may proceed on her husband’s second papers. In the last case* they need have only two witnesses who have known them one year. “If born in the United States, you a>'o a citizen, except native women who married un naturalized aliens prior to Sept. 22, 1922.” Vanderburgh Prosecutor Dead l;/t Timet Special EVANSVILLE. C. F. Gillette, Hardin barrister, originated a subscription plan. He sent out appeals to brother legal lights to “buy- a brick.” Each brick costs the donor 50 cents. • The church will be * called “The Lawyers’ Mite.”

Leland's petition for divorce was based on his wife's admission of intimacies with the pastor. Dr. Case's defense consisted of testimony intended. to show Mrs. Leland was mentally unsound and that her “confession was the result of hallucinations. LACK OF ROOM AT STATE MUSEUMJS CAUSEORMS Valuable Contributions Refused When Scarcity Becomes Acute, The museum at the Statehouse. because of lack of case room, is unable to accept many valuable historical collections, according to W. H. Hershman, curator. Howard T. Brockway, attorney, of Brookston, has offered the museum a valuable collection of coins, dating from 600 B. to be presented as soon as case room is found. “I have a catalogue from the New York National Museum giving illustrations of exhibit cases appropriate for museums,” Hershman said. "Indiana’s collection would compare very favorably with exhibits elsewhere, If properly displayed.” Several specimens of historical interest have been acquired * recently. Among these is a signal flag discovered with the Col. William H. Sherfy collection. The flag, with a white square on a black background, was used by' Colonel Sherfy', a major in the Civil„War. when he conveyed the famous message, “Hold the fort for help Is coming,” from General Sherman at Kenesaw mountain to General Case at Ft. McAllister in 1864. A model of one of the few relics of Aztec civilization is anew valuable addition, a gift of Thomas H. Nelson, former ambassador to Mexico, to Governor Conrad Baker in 1871. Nelson obtained an excellent specimen of the celebrated calendar stone used by the Aztec Indian, found in 1790. \ The original was buried at the time of the conquest of Mekico by Cortes.

BROWN APPROVES APPEAL Remonstrators Asked to File Objections Against Road Bond Issue. John J. Brown, chairman of the State tax board, has dritten to remonstrators against a road bond issue in Clinton County asking them to demand a rehearing oy the'Appjjllate Court of the “twenty-nine day remonstrance” case. The tax board has been holding that p-emonstrators against road bond issues had twenty-nine days in which to file objections. The court ruled they had only fifteen days. INDIAN STUDENT TO TALK Y. M. C. A. Bible Club to Hear Religious Compared. Dr. O. E. Grainger, for many yfears a resident of India, and a student of the. religions of India, Persia, Arabia and the other Asiatic nationalities, will speak at the Y. M. C. A. Bible Club tonight. He will compare Christianity and the Asiatic religions relating some of the legends, myths and superstitions by which the lives of Orientals are guided. A baked bean supper will be given at 6:20. Mrs. Marie Knuth Rites Held Funeral of Mrs. Marie Class Knuth, 38, widow of the late Frank Knuth, Jr., was held from the residence, 1126 Newman St., and at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Chaijch today. Burial was In Concordia cemetery-. Surviving Mrs. Knuth are her father, Michael Class; one sister, Mrs. Schabetoske, both of this city-, and a brother, Walter Class of Burlington, N. BANDIT FACING DEATH ♦ —— Killer of Bank Messengers Convicted of Murder. Bv United Press NEW YORK, Feb. 20.—John Farina, the third man to be convicted for the killing of two bank messengers in Brooklyn last November, was found guilty of first degree murder early today by a jury that deliberated more than four hours and a half.
