STOMP DESCRIBES LOVE OF COUNTRY TAUGHTBYWILSON Indianapolis Council of Women Hold Patriotic Meeting at Spink Arms, “Woodrow Wilson gave to the world a conception of love of country which no more requires that one be unfriendly toward other people than the love of one's own children requires him to hate other children. That idea of patriotism was not new to America. Let us hope that it will never be abandoned,” said Albert Stump, attorney, before ethe Indianajolis Local Council of Women at their patriotic fneeting at the SpinkArms this afternoon. He pointed out that modem men had failed to work out a satisfactory method of cooperation with one another. Mrs. E. P. Brennan acted in the place of her mother. Mrs. W. H. Blodgett,- as hostess, assisted by Mrs. F. L. Lahr. Mrs. Claudia Either, national patriotic instructor of the Sons of Veterans auxiliary, and representative of auxiliary No. 10 presented each guest with a small silk tiag and a printed copy of the creed of the United States. Other representatives of affiliated patriotic organizations who gave five-minute talks were: Mrs. Martha J. Stubbs, Marion County chapter of American War Mothers; Miss Teresa Voss, Anthony Wayne chapter of D. A. R.; Mrs. C. E. Kregelo and Mrs. J. E. Berry, Pioneer Mothers: Mrs. Otis McCracken, Altruistic Club, and Mrs. H. R. A. Baughman, women's auxiliary to the Thirty-Eighth division of Indiana. Mrs. J. Wells was soloist. M’CULLOCH OPENS OFFICE IN RACE FOR NOMINATION Shank and Jackson Headquarters Reopened—Wilson to Be Honored, Headquarters for the campaign of Dr. Carlton B. McCulloch, candidate for the Democratic nomination for Governor, were opened in room 625 Claypool today. Omer Jackson of Greenfield, Dr. McCulloch’s campaign manager, is in charge. Dr. McCulloch is the first Democratic candidate to open headquarters. The headquarters of Mpyor Shank were opened again today after having been closed since the death of Mrs. Shank. Arrangements are being made to resume the campaign, although the Mayor's speaking engagements have been cancelled for some time to come. The headquarters of Ed Jackson, candidate for the Republican nomination for Governor, which were closed after Mrs. Shank's death, also were re-opened. Democratic State headquarters will be closed from 2 p. m. to 4 p. m., Wednesday afternoon during the funeral of Woodrow Wilson. The offices of Robert Bracken. State auditor, and Zach Dungan. clerk of tiie Supreme and Appellate Courts, in the Statehouse, also will be closed during the funeral.
MRS. HOOVER IS DEAD Private Funeral Services to Be Held at Home Wednesday. Private funeral services for Mrs. Andrew Hoover, 48, of 2401 Talbott Ave., who died Monday night at St. Vincent Hospital after an illness of three days, will be held at the home Wednesday at 2 p. m. Burial in Crown Hill cemetery. Mrs. Hoover was born in Melville, Ind. She lived in Indianapolis twenty-nine years. She was a member of the Second Church of Christ Scientist. Surviving: The husband, two daughters, Jeanette Hoover and Mrs. Mohler McVey; a son. Richard A. Hoover, the mother, Mrs. Harry Falck, all of Indianapolis: two sisters. Mrs. George Smith of Deputy, Ind.; Mrs. William Davis, New Castle, and three brothers, John Falck of Richmond, Harry Falck of New Castle and Hiram Eshelman of Greenfield. Meeting During January Is Large. Boys department of the Y. M. C. A. today reported forty new members in January and organization of boy teams to secure 100 more in the next fifteen days. During January attendance at Sunday meetings was 625 and at weekly Bible classes, 835. Thirty-nine boys made Christian character decisions and eight joined church. The social, reading and game rooms served attendance of 10,000.

Opple et al free gravel road bonds, Decatur Township. Marion County. Statu of Indiana, in the total principal suin of $3,000. all dated Nov. 15. 1923. into twenty equal series of one bond each, all bearing interest at Lie rate of 454 per cent, per annum, the Ist scries, principal and interest to mature and be payable ou May 15, 1924. and one scries, principal and interest, each six months thereafter until all are paid.
