ROBBERY, MURDER MOTIVE FoHce Hunt Slayer of Grocer Found With Head Battered With Hammer. By United Prrxg TERRE HAUTE. Ir.d., Feb. I.—Police today traced clewg to the identity of the murderer of John Smith, 44, grocer, who was found dying late yesterday by his son. His head had been battered by a machinist’s sledge hammer. Robbery was evidently the motive for the murder, police said. Contents of the cash drawer, S9O, was missing.
