FOUR DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES FOR k GOVERNOR SPEAK Shortcomings of Present State Administration Are Aired by Quartet, Bp Times Special FT WAYNE, Ind., Feb. I.—Shortcomings of the present State adminis tratlon and the necessity for lowei taxes were discussed in detail hen Thursday night when four candidates for the. Democratic nomination for Governor spoke from the same platform under the auspices of the Jefferson Club. The candidates who spoke are Dr. Carleton B. McCulloch, Indianapolis; Charles Stacey Batt, Terre Haute; Dale J. Crittenberger, Anderson, and Joseph M. Cravens, Madison. “Economy and honesty in public affairs must be the slogan in this campaign," Dr. McCulloch said. He advocated the elimination and consolidation of boards and commissions. In demanding honesty in public affairs, he said: “It is time our public offiicals, and those with whom they deal, should abandon the false yardstick of ‘Can we get by with it?’ and go back to the old-fashioned footrule of ‘ls it right .or is it wrong?' * “The Republican party has been in power In the State of Indiana for seven years and iij the Nation for three years,” Batt said. ‘‘ln the State the banks are charging off great packages of notes to profit and loss, and in
