SEND COUPON FOR U£“ AY You Owe Yourself this dainty habit. Fight the film on teeth.

Too men and women owe to yourself prettier, cleaner teeth. Teeth free from dingy film. Millions have learned the way to attain them. If you don’t know it, please try it now. Film is unclean Film is that viscous coat you feeL It resists the tooth brush, and much of it clings and stays. Soon it becomes discolored, then forms dingy coats. That’s why countless teeth are clouded more or less. Film also holds food substance which ferments and forms acid. It holds the acid in contact with the teeth to cause decay. Germs breed by millions in it They, with tartar, are the chief cause of pyorrhea. Under old methods, very few people, young or older, escaped these film-caused troubles. These facts led dental science to seek for film combatants. Eventually two were found. One disintegrates the film, one removes h Without harmful scouring. Protect the Enamel Pepiodent disintegrates the film, then removes it with an agent far softer than enamel. Never use a film combatant which contains harsh grit.

Weekly Book Review— Ghosts of Florian’s Four Former Wives Leave Tombs to Talk to Fifth Wife

By WALTER D. HICKMAN URIED wives do not alway3 stay in their tombs. That you discover In the land of fiction or rather in James Branch Cabell's “The High Place,” a comedy of disenchantment. The delicious idea of the ghosts of the wives of a sort of a Bluebeard who places his wives after they had died under strange conditions in their tombs instead of a secret closet, returning to warn the fifth wife that she soon would occupy a place near them soon, is found in “The High Place.” Wives generally (my idea is based upon the book and not real life) have the tendency to talk a deal and while the fifth wife of Florian is visiting with the ghosts of her four predecessors, there is much talking. At times the ghosts were rather “catty.” You will bump up against this gorgeous satire in Cabell’s latest literary contribution. I do not consider “The High Place” an exponent of the dirt literature of the day because it is too beautifully written. Just as much as I loathed "The Blind Bow Boy,” Just as much do I

Able authorities proved these methods effective. Then a newtype tooth paste was created to apply them daily. The name is Pepsodent. Leading dentists the world over began to advise this method. Now careful people of some 50 nations are employing it every day. It brings many new effects Pepsodent does other things which research proved essential. It multiplies the alkalinity of the saliva—there to neutralise mouth acids, It multiplies the starch digestant in saliva—there to digest starch deposits. Soapy tooth pastes reduce these great protective agents. Pepsodent gives them manifold power. Thud the use of Pepsodent brings astonishing results. They are quick and convincing. You wll not, when you know them, ever go without them. Send the coupon for a 10-Day Tube. Note how clean the teeth feel after using. Mark the absence of the viscous film. See hew teeth become whiter aa the film-coats disappear. You will realise then how much this method means to you and yours. Cut out coupon now.

admire the daring of Cabell In “The High Place.” It seems that it is a hard job to get the meaning of this writer. He seems to be up in the clouds, but while he is sailing up there he lets loose some brilliant wit and pointed satire which makes me believe that “The High Place” is one of the most brilliant burlesques ever written. Probably I will be told that I have the wrong "key” to “The Hign Place,” but the minute I decided to accept it as keen burlesque, Just gay and at times saucy fun, I relished every page of this strange book. I Place.” is a descendant of both Jurj gen and old Manuel and It Is not sur- | prising that Florian changed the locai tion of his bedroom so often. He ' seemed to inherit the ability to be queerly gallant. I wasn't so greatjy Interested in the efforts of Florian to marry a beautiful princess who had slept for thousanls of years in a castle on “The High Piace,” but rather searched for the piercing humor, satire and burlesque of this master writer. One of the keenest moments of this book is when Florian, rather peeved at his lovely fifth wife, seeks rest with a sort of a weird magi who can recall the ghosts of great people. This magi is able to cause the great Charlemagne to leave his t'omb for a w r ee bit of conversation. What do you think that this great man talked about? About his bunions.

So much for this gay, saucy, brilliant fun. Take it as fun. the sunshine of the author’s fun w.th the weakness of human nature and of life. If You Are Searching for Mental Spice, Read This One I have been told that if I wear pa jamas instead of wool nightgowns and if my appetite invites a dish of bird seed instead of milk and mush that I would enjoy “The High Place.” Rather found that to be true. Here is the most marvelously different story I have ever discovered. There Is citing fun and satire in this book. And the beauty about this saucy literary moss is that it is only the dream of a 10-year-okl boy. Even that idea makes the sauce for the goose more tempting. I do not recommend “The H'gh Place” for kindergarten reading, but

WEEKLY Business and Industrial NEWS

PRICES WILL RISE AGAIN THIS YEAR, SAYS PROF. HANEY ; Sharp Break in Upward Revision Predicted to Occur in 1925, BY DR. L. H. HANEY ! Director Bureau Business Research. New York University. NEW YORK, Jan. 21.—The ques--1 tion now uppermost among business analtsts is. what are commodity prices going to do? The answer to the I question has great practical irnporI tance, for if prices are going to j now is the time to buy, and vice j versa. i During the last three months ther* ■ has been very little change in the average of wholesale prices, the ups j in commodities being Just about off- ! set by the downs on the others. The (Indexes, while declining slightly duri ing December, still show gains in com- | parlson with the low point reached : last September. In my opinion, observers are wrong, I and I have pretty conclusive reasons. In the first place, it Is fact that about the only thing that can cause a change in the general level of all prices is a change in the supply of I money In relations to the supply of j j commodities.

j At the present time the supply ot | money and credit Is growing larger ! while the supply of crmmiodlt.es Is de- | creasing. Asa result, there must be a ten- ! dency for money to become worth less and a tendency for commodities to become worth more In terms of money. Looking at the subject In another way. It may be said that the demand for commodities in general is Increasing. The "practical man” says that Inventories are small, consumers have bcn economizing, and. since their purchasing power is high, they must j buy. When you consider the various j groups of commodities separately, the ! argument Is strengthened. Some have undergone a long downward price j revision and are plainly at bottom | levels, aa are coal, oil, hides and ! leather, chemicals, hogs and p->rk. The most probable outcome Is a ; rather stable level of average prices for a month or two more. Then a moderate rise, followed probably by some sharp gains. Finally will come a .-harp break—say some time In 1925. Then, will begin the long downward tendency that must come with the world readjustment after war Inflation. , But that Is a long way ahead and will be bothering us more flve years from now.

ME BUILDING URGE INCREASES

In the winter the average person realizes the satisfaction of owning his home more than at any other season of the year. So it Is at this season that the man renting feels the urge to own a home as soon as possible. No longer is it necessary to have a largo amount of cash on hand to build. If one owns a lot It la possible to have a home constructed and to pay for the house in easy monthly payments. ■ Floyed Peterman, 509 Massachusetts Ave., makes a specialty of building modest-priced homes of four and flve rooms, furnishing all of the money necessary for building, this amount to be paid back to him in easy monthly payments, like rent. Mr. Peterman’s business has grown very rapidly and this year he has already contracted to put up a large number of houses. While he takes the prospective owner’s Ideas into the corporation of the plans for the house, all are built substantially and planned so as to be as convenient as possible.
