DEMOCRATS PICK SLATEINILLINOIS McAdoo Backers Absent at State Caucus, By United Pree SPRINGFIELD, HJ„ Jan. 18.— Democratic chieftains in caucus early today picked a party slate for the April primaries and invited the advisory State convention scheduled to convene at 11 a. m., to indorse it. The elate follows: For United States Senator, Col. A. A. Sprague; Governor, Judge Norman L. Jones; Lieutenant Governor, Ferdinand Garesche; secretary of State, Andrew Olson; State auditor, Stite Senator Edward J. Hughes; . State ■ reasurer, John C. Martin; attorney general, Thomas Donovan; representatives in Congress at large, Mrs. Mary Hart and Frank I. Mann. The slate was picked by fifteen Jeades called into caucus by George Brennan, Illinois Democratic leader. Supporters of William G. McAdoo for the Democratic nomination for President were conspicuous by their absence. Henchmen of James Haihiltbn Lewis, who apparently had the United States Senatorship nomination tied up, also were missing. Scouts Seelv Members V drive to increase the enrollment Indianapolis Boy Scouts to 2,000 ind the organization of 100 troops by June will begin soon, F. O. Belzer, Scout executive, said today. There are now seventy-two troops in the city. Ex-Service Voters to Meet The Ex-Service Voters League will meet at the Chamber of Commerce tonight to discuss plans for the campaign. Officers will be elected. The league Is non-partisan.

BANKERS’ CHARGE PROBED State Commissioner to Investigate Alleged Law Violations. Following charges of a committee of the Indiana Bankers’ Association that some building and loan associations are violating State banking laws by conducting a banking business, Eben H. Wolcott, State bank commissioner, today planned an Investigation. The Investigation was ordered after a committee of the association had called on Governor McCray. The bankers, closing their meeting Thursday night, adopted a resolution suggesting legislation to provide death penalty for banditry. The association also adopted a resolution approving tax revision, but suggested that a compromise between Uie Mellon plan and the Democratic plan of reduction will be necessary.

Bridwell Is the third man to be held following a disturbance at Tomlinson Hall Wednesday night, when George R.
