VENIZELOS’ RETURN URGED BY GREEKS y Veteran Statesman May Take Helm of Affairs. Bu United Press ATHENS, Dec. 21.—A determined effort to persuade ex-Premier Venizelos to return to the helm of affairs in Greece was made today. Premier Gonatas and Colonel Pilastras of the military directorate, two strongest men in Athens at the moment, answered demand of Republicans the former resign by sending a committee to Paris to urge Venizelos’ return. Simultaneously, they persuaded 250 deputies—a majority of the chamber —to cable the veteran statesman urging him to come to Athens. EXPOSE SUBSTANTIATED Statement from national headquarters of the United Mine Workers of America, declares that recent disclosure of plans of the Russian soviet to gain control in the United States, substantiates statements of miners made last September. “When our exposure was issued, there were some who doubted the cts,” say the miners.
