JUDGE DECLARES CARNEFIX GUILTY OF ‘RANKPERJURY’ Druggist Awaits Penalty on Charges of Dry Law Violation. Branded as a perjurer In open court by Judge Albert B. Anderson, Louis W. Carneflx, 4612 Central Ave., druggist and former president of city council, was at liberty today under bond of $2,500, after being found guilty of violation of prohibition laws, in Federal Court late Wednesday. "This man has committed rank perjury,” Judge Anderson said. “I am going to raise his bond from $1,500 to $2,600.” Then, turning to Linus P. Meredith, United States marshal, he said: "Mr. Marshal, take him in charge. If he does not give the bond, put him in jalL” Government witnesses testified they had seen drunk men coming out of Cameflx's drug store at 1012 River Ave., and that It bore the reputation of being a place where liquor was sold. Carneflx took the stand and denied charges made against him, including testimony of Government witnesses. The case arose last May when Fed eral agents reported that Cameflx’s alcohol permits showed irregularities. Later his permit was revoked. The case of Angelo Prevenzano, William Giardina and William F. Meyers, all of Chicago, charged with complicity in the theft of 2,700 gallons of whisky from a bonded warehouse at Hammond In 1922 was expected to reach the jury before noon today. |OHEOY6OR.e) The sign painter had trouble when he painted this sign. It appeared in a department store and was of great interest to the kiddies during the Christmas shopping period. The mistake in the sign lies in the fact that one letter was left out —a letter which should appear more than once in the sign. Furthermore, the remaining letters were jumbled together to form the peculiar word, “OHEOYSORE.” Can you supply the necessary letter to make the sign readable? Yesterday's answer RMMBRDCMBRTHLVNTH! By inserting the letter "E" among the letters shown above the following sentence may be formed: REMEMBER DECEMBER THE ELEVENTH!
