DAWES ASKS LAW ALLOWING BRANCH OF NATIONAL BANKS Comptroller of Currency Says Federal Reserve System Is Doomed Otherwise. By Vnitel Frets WASHIXGTON, Dec. 14. —Federal Reserve system Is doomed unless Congress puts national banks on a parity with State "banks in the matter of branch banking, Controller of the Currency Dawes declared In a report submitted to Secretary Mellon today. Substitution of financial control of the banking machinery of the United States for the Federal Reserve system is inevitable unless this is done, Dawes said. To avoid the danger, Dawes recommended Congress should j pass a law granting national banks power to operate branches, with a proviso forbidding establishment of branches by national banks in those localities where such privileges are forbidden to State banks and trust companies. The alternative, Dawes declared, is to forbid State banks in the system :o engage in branch banking. MAN IN ALCOHOL SEIZURE Fifty Gallons Found by Deputy Sheriff Near City. A man giving his name as Ernest King, 1203 Harlan St., is under charges today in city court of violating liquor laws as a result of being arrested with fifty gallons of grain •alcohol in an automobile on the National road west of Indianapolis, according to Deputy Sheriff Roland Snider. Snider was returning from the Indiana State farm when he noticed the cargo. It was designed for the Christmas trade, Snider said. The car and alcohol was confiscated. Stubborn Coughs Stop Quick With Home Made Cough Mixture Not until you make your own cough mixture —a half pint of it for a small sum—will you know how easy it is to stop any bad, persistent cough as if by magic. It’s pleasant-tasting, but that don’t stop It from knocking out a cough quicker than anything else in the world. Children love it. Get from any druggist one ounce of Parmint (double strength)— to this add a little granulated sugar and enough water to make one halftpint— that’s all these is to it. This loosens the phlegm, stops the irritation, alfays the inflammation, cleans out clogged nostrils, makes breathing easier, and causes sore throat and hoarseness to disappear. With soeed almost beyond belief, this home-made cough mixture stops the toughest hang-on cough, and ail because in it there is a substance (too costly for ordinary cough syrup) that immediately covers the membrane like a soothing, healing poultice and blessed relief comes at once. And it is always worth while to bear in mind that any remedy that overcomes catarrh, partially or wholly, is bound to be of benefit to thefee who are troubled with head noises and catarrhal deafness. Get Parmint and get better.—Advar toisement.
