HE BY PRISONER . BREAKS OP JAIL DELIVERY PLOI 'lnsider' Tells Sheriff of Convicts’ Scheme to Slug Night Turnkey, Bu United Press MARION, Ind.. Dec. 13—Three ringleaders of a plot among prisoners in the county jail to effect a wholesale delivery were in solitary confinement today. Extra precautions were taken to guard other prsoners. A prisoner who was In on the plot tipped the sheriff to the fact that three men in the bull pen were going to slug Nelson Stauffer, night turnkey. with an iron pipe, take his keys and free their confederates. Investgation revealed a saw. rope and two large iron bars. It Is be lieved the articles were smuggled in to the men by visitors. The alleged ringleaders were Witt Talbert, Chester Shrock and Joe Shane. Shrock. who is charged with complicity in the robbery of the Pennsylvania railroad ticket office here two years ago. was arrested n the office of the county clerk at Indianapolis on Nov. 24, just as he was making application for a license to marry Miss Hazel Cain of Indianapolis. HILL SENTENCE UPHELD Doctor Must Serve Three to Fourteen Years. Dr. A. A. Hill of Indianapolis will be required to serve a three-to-four-teen-year sentence in the State prison for having performed an illegal operation on Sarah Karabell. who later died, the State Supreme Court has decided. The opinion, written by Judge Fred C. Gause. affirms the conviction of Dr. Hill in Criminal Court. Other judges concurred. Dr. Hill was sentenced in March. 1921, following a second trial. Since making the appeal. Dr. Hill has been arrested again, charged \ l.n performing a similar operation. His physician's license has been revoked by the State. Charge of practicing without a license are pending against him.

The others returned to their classes. The board of education did not compromise, claiming Catholic students' parents paid taxes the same as other parents and the contract could not be cancelled. TAX STAND COMMENDED Metal Trades Body Ratifies Committee Resolution. Members of the Indianapolis Branch National Metal Trades Association, ratified a resolution commending President Coolidge and Secretary of the Treasury Mellon for their stand on the tax reduction. The resolution was adopted several days ago by .he executive committee. "Tax reduction by Federal and State Governments will be an Important stimulus to industry,” said the resolution. A copy of the resolution was sent to President Coolidge, Indiana Senators and Representatives.

Dec. 13.—A world-wide search was started today for Leo Koretz, prominent clubman and reputed minister, charged with operating a ‘‘55,000,000 swindle.” State’s attorney Crow r e took charge of a raid on Koretz’s offices, occupying an entire floor of a downtown building. Scores of wealthy and socially prominent men are victims of Koretz’s alleged swindles. One man lost $200,000 in a promotion scheme. Koretz, according to Crowe, told friends he owned 1,000,000 acres of Panama land on which oil had been found. Military Funeral for Aviator COLUMBUS, Ind., Dec. 13.—The aerial unit of the Indiana National Guard, from Kokomo, together with Battery F, 150th Field Artillery, and members of the American Legion, will participate In the funeral Friday of Capt. Emil T. Wagner of this city.
