Indianapolis fight fans will have an opportunity to see Tommy Gibbons, St. Paul heavyweight, in action next week when Gibbons will appear at the Lyric Theater in the vaudeville act w.th which he has been touring the country since his fifteen-round battle with Jack Dempsey at Shelby, Mont., last Fourth of July. Gibbons is rated the most scientific of the big fellows now chasing the heavyweight crown. In his act Gibbons demonstrates his methods of training, punches the bag, illustrates his favorite blows, and boxes three fast rounds with a sparring partner. Shortridge Bulletin Issued. CITIES ORGANIZE FOR PINE FIGHT $2,000 Fund Sought for Engaging Experts, Indiana cities and towns affected by the increased telephone rates were organizing today to form a $2,000 fund for presenting their case in a Federal court hearing, Dec. 10, whether a temporary order for the rate increase shall be made permanent. The hearing will be before Judge Samuel Alchuler of Chicago. Mayor Blanchard J. Horne of Anderson, chairman of the telephone committee, Indiana Municipal League, has informed Taylor E. Groninger. city corporation counsel, that coopeiation of every' city is indicated. Groninger has promised that Indianapolis will provide funds for employment of Edward Bemis and Edward Crumm, utility experts of Chicago. At a conference Wednesday by Attorney General U, S. Lesh, attorneys and city officials, it was decided that Cassius C. Shirley, an attorney employed by Governor McCray, will take charge of the legal fight in Federal Court. CITY CHURCH REVIVAL I'uion Evangelistic Campaign to Be Held Jan. 6-19. A city-wide evangelistic campaign will be conducted Jan. 6-19 by the Protestant churches affiliated with the Indianapolis Church Federation and the Indianapolis Ministerial Union, it was announced today by Dr. C. H. Winders, executive secretary of the church federation. Churches have been divided into groups of four to twelve each. Dr. Frederick E. Taylor, pastor First Baptist Church, is head of the evangelistic committee. TEACHERS’ RETIREMENT C. of C. Resolutions on New Ruling Due for Final Vote Jan. 9. Final action on a resolution opposing the ruling requiring Indianapolis public school tachers to retire after forty-five years of active service will be taken by the Chamber of Commerce educational committee Jan. 9. NEW INSURANCE RATESEFFECTIVE National of Hartford Makes Substantial Reductions. Much unrest has been felt over the State since the rates for automobile theft and fire insurance were established by stock companies effective June 1 of this year because owners felt the rate was too high. This rate was determined from the average loss ratios for all such companies. After careful examination of their individual rate of losses the National Fire Insurance Company of Hartford, Conn., found that they could' consistently and within the confines of legitimate stock company insurance give a lower rate. They filed these findings with the insurance commission of Indiana asking permission to reduce its auto theft rates, and this deviation was granted, to he effective Dec. 5. As far as can be ascertained no other stock company has asked fetor received such deviation agreement, so at present this insurance can be obtained at this reduced rate only from the Theodore Stein, Jr. Insurance Company, 240 Consolidated Bldg., agents. This company has the old est existing insurance office In the city. . The rates on Fords as fixed by the June agreement were $6.85 while the new rate Is but $3.50. An additional reduction also may be had if a locking device approved by the Underwriters' Laboratories is attached to the car. There is also reduction of 25 per cent if the Insurance is made out so as not to cover the accessories.
