By ROBERT TALLEY WASHINGTON, Nov. 23—Supose you were privileged to write the history of your own life, to become a part of the government’s permanent records, and you were permitted to do so anonymously. What would you say? Uncle Sam’s Congressmen and Senators are wrestling with this problem today as they prepare their own biographical sketches for publication in the forthcoming edition of the Congressional Directory. Each member is permitted to write his own, and he ■an use third-person phraseology so as to make it read as if somebody else had done it. .Modesty Not Needed Modesty in penning your own history isn't exactly necessary. For instance. Senator Lodge of Massachusetts devoted nearly two pages to telling all about himself from May 12, 1850. down to the present, naming the various learned societies he has been identified with and listing the many books he has written.
