SENATOR RALSTON TO ANSWER UNIT! LEAGUE! KLAN Solons Asked for Attitude Toward Texas K, K, K, Colleague, Senator Samuel M. Ralston said today he will answer within the next few days a letter sent to him by the Marion County branch of the American Unity League asking his stand on the Ku-Klux Klan issue. A similar letter has been sent to Senator James E. Watson. Senator Watson was out of the city. Senator Ralston indicated he wouid answer the letter before Xov. 28, when he will leave for Washington to assuipe his duties as Senator. On Dec. 1, Ralston will attend a dinner given to new Senators by Senator William B. McKinley of Illinois. The Unity League letter asks concerning the stand of the Senators on the seating of Senator-elect Mayfield of Texas, who, the letter says, is a member of the Klan and whose caml>aign was financed with Klan money. It asks also whether the Senators are members of the Klan or of the Royal Ordei of Lions, which It says is affiliated with the Klan. It asks also I whether they believe In the program |of the Klan and whether they stand] on the principles of the Constitution of the United States. The letter was signed by Jacob Morgan, president of the Marlon County league; Michael McCarthy, secretary and members of the advisory committee. NEW MOTOR COMPANY TO START WORK JAN. 1 Plant to Remake l.uick and Nash Cars at Ou sot. Production will be started at the Twyman Remanufacturing Motors Company plant in the old Lafayette Motors plant at Mars Hill about Jan. 1, B. W. Twyman, president, an nounced today. The plant will remanufacture Nash and Buiek automobiles at the outset, with other makes to be added soon Branch plants are to be established elsewhere, Twyman said. Goebel, secretary and counsel, today were on tour of inspection of the company's lines. Goebel has just returned from a board meeting at New York. It is understood he stopped in W ashington to make arrangements for a conference with the Interstate Commerce Commission preparatory to negotiations leading to a merger of the C., I. & W. with the Monon. Such a merger, it Is said by railroad inen, would be of advantage to the Monon. because it would furnish a connecting link between its St. Louis division and the Cincinnati division via Indianapolis. Military Riles at Franklin A military funeral for Ernest Dalton. 27, of 534 Harman St., was to be held at Franklin, Ind., this afternoon. Dalton was accidentally shot while hunting Friday near Columbus, Ind. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Esther Dalton; two brothers, Oday and Jerry Dalton, and three sisters. Mrs. Eugene Rossi, Mrs. Mearl Perry, and Mrs. Henry Newkirk.

Verna Keller, 13, daughter of Charles Keller, 1432 E. Washington St., left home at 3 p. m. Saturday and has not been seen since, police were told. The girl, a student of public school No. 14, has a light complexion, blonde, bobbed hair, blue eyes and wore a red beaver hat, blue coat black stockings and black shoes. The girl took other clothing with her in a tan suit case, parents say. She had attended school regularly until Fr.day and had never intimated leaving, it is said. Two runaway boys from Mattoon, 111., one dr.ving his father's automobile, were sought here today. A message states the boys, Clyde Gilbert and Loyd Kinnery, were in a Chevrolet machine. PRESBYTERIANS SEEK TO MERGE 2 CHURCHES Consolidated Edifice Plannnod at Fairview Park. Consolidation of the Grace Presbyterian Church and the Fourth Presbyterian Church and plans for relocating the consolidated church near Fair view Park will be discussed separately by congregations of the two churches at meetings Wednesday and Thursday nights. Members of each will be asked to vote on proposals made at the meeting of the Indianapolis presbytery last April at Martinsville. History of the Fourth Church, now located at Nineteenth and Alabama Sts., began Nov. 30. 1851. The Rev. Edward H. Kistler i3 pastor. The Rv. N. S. TWO MEN SOUGHT AS GIRLS REVEAL STORYOFATTACK Abducted Into Auto and Taken to Country, Police Told, The police are searching today for two men who abducted and attacked Alice, 16, and Fern Pottorff, 14, of 460 Agnes St., Saturday. According to the two girls, two men accosted them at Walnut and Blake Sts., late Saturday, and pulled them into an automobile parked nearby, commanding the driver to drive into the country. After taking the keys from the driver of the car on a road just off Northwestern Ave., the girl said the two men attacked them. Following a fight with occupants of another machine that stopped, the men took the girls and drove on. On the way into town they were attacked again, and then the two couples got out of the car at Blake and New York Sts., the girls say. Driving to Washington and Missouri Sts., the driver, whose name was not learned, reported the matter,to Police Sergeant John L. Wilson who found the quartet walking on New York St., near Blake St. When discovered, the two men ran down a near-by alley amid a shower of bullets fired by Wilson. The officer said he did not believe the men were wounded. The men were Identified by the girls. Police-say the girls are wards of the Juvenile court. G. 0. P. HONORS WOMEN Wife of Senator J. M. WEEK-END LIQUOR ARRESTSAREFEW Booze Squads Seize Six in City, Wnile the slates at the city prison turnkev office contained their customary number of names for the weekend arrests, a noticeable feature today was the scarcity of liquor arrests. Five boys were slated at the detention home as delinquents, while the woman’s slate contained seventeen names. One hundred fourteen men were arrested. Blind tiger arrests were few, and six, two of whom were women, rep resented the booze squads’ results. U. S. Tax Refund Won Mrs. Catherine E. Apperson of Kokomo, widow of Elmer Apperson, pioneer automobile manufacturer, will receive $18,304.09 from the Government for taxes said by a Federal .Court jury to have been collected from her illegally. The verdict was returned late Saturday. The suit grew out of Federal estate taxes assessed against 1,000 shares of Apperson Brothers Automobilo Company stock given by Apperson before his death to his wife and her sister, Lillian G Clancy.
