Vera Burt Impersonates Galli-Curci at Palace

• Wonder If Qalll-Curci ever thought of singing “Yes, We Have No Bananas'’ as an operatic selection. Vera Burt, now at the Palace with Saxi Holt and a band, gives her impression of the great singer singing the “banana" song as grand opera. • Generally, this banana song sets me wild, but it had the opposite effect yesterday. The entire act is clever, especially the saxophone playing of Holt. The costumes of Miss Burt are beautiful. The acrobatic balancing of Oscar Martin and company deserve real praise. Here are three people who lift what might be called a gymnastic act up to high limits. Splendid, especially the hand balancing work. A lamp post and a pipe become musical instruments during the act of the Two Rozellas. Charles Olcott again gives his impression of light opera and then introduces Polly Ann, a character singer, and a pianist. They easily please. George Yeoman is back in his full-stage monologue act. They were playing Keiths (Cincinnati) when the race came off and were a hard bunch to get along with, according to Ben Heilman, manager of the act, whenever the forthcoming race was mentioned. They declared that Papyrus could not lose. They even claimed that Papyrus could run backward and beat Zev. Then came the news tioat Papyrus had lost and then what a sad looking bunch. They could not believe it. Some of the girls had even bet their jewelry.
