FARMERS LEAVING WORK INCOMPLETE AS LABOR IS SHY Fifty Per Cent of Siios Filled in Indiana, State Says. Not more than 50 per cent of Indiana silos have been filled this year, due to scarcity of farm labor and high prices, 1.-Newt Brown, secretary of (he State board of agriculture, said today. Farmers have to pay from twenty-five to thirty-five cents a shock for corn cutters who have been making as high as $9 and $lO a day, Brown said. Reports received by the State board show the- fall labor situation unusually acutA in Grant and Shelby countie':, Brown said he believed the situation equally .serious throughout the State. Brown predicted a scarcity of corn Not How Quick, But How Sure By OSCAR SCHMIDT If you are a "born gambler”—if you crave the thrill of sudden gain, the knaw Sos anxiety, the thrill of dread, the pang of crashing loss, which compose the high-blood-pres-sure-conducting existence of the gambler—do not invest your savings in a Saving & Loan Association. It is not a get-rich-quick scheme. But, if you are a conscientious person with your feet on the ground md your head on a level with the business world and not in the clouds, there is no more stable, solid, honest-rest-Bfoducing place for your money than in one of these associations. The backbone of the whole plan is real estate. “Real,” says Webster, means “gent’ii.e, true,' actually existing,” and estate means “land.” Real Estate is your guarantee that your money Is safe—real estate which is appraised by shrewd men who examine titles and pass on all details involved in the handling of property. No loss can come through Are or tornado, for all buildings are fully covered by insurance. No loophole is left whereby the spectre “Loss” can creep in, to twit the investor with the remorse of what might have been. The sentiment of the home, the honor of the home buyer, the feasibility of the plan and th supervision of the state, coupled with the security of real estate, makes the Savings & Loan Association the truest type of saving principle.
