MANY INVESTORS HERE CAUGHT IN PETREI NET Three-Quarters of a Million / Involved In Texas Oil \ Company Hoax. About 440 persons in Indianapolis and vicinity have been “fleeced” out of approximately $750,000 through purchase of stock in the Walker Consolidated Petroleum Company, Dallas, Texas, according to C. N. Van Cleave, 617 Traction building, chairman of Indiana Stockholders' Protective Comaiittee. Among the victims are many prominent business men. A. W. Walker, Dallas, Texas, president of the organization; Harold Walker, Dallas, Texas, vice-president; Hudson Hobson, Birmingham, Ala., and D. S. Menasco, Indianapolis, secretary, are under indictment by a

A telegram received by a member of the committee from 'an auditor employed to Investigate the standing of the company says: “Preliminary investigation shows Walker Consolidated Petroleum Company never really existed as a going solvent concern, that at their dwn valuation of properties capital stock w r as never worth more than 50 cents on the dollar, that ajl dividneds were declared out of capital assets when a real deficit existed, that company was apparently stock selling scheme manipulated for benefit of a few individuals. Money for first cash dividends obtained by Walker from Texhoma.” Walker Consolidated bought a large amount of property from Texhoma, of which Walker was president. According to the contract, Walker Consolidated was not to obtain possession until a specified amount was paid. According to Van Cleave Walker obtained a large amount of money fraudulently through the transaction. j Other Suits Pending Menasco obtained $14,000 through sales of stock in the concern. He obtained twenty-five per cent commission on stock sales when his contract called for a commission of fifteen
