Hentzau’ Brings New Glory to Films; Modern Bluebeard Divorces His Wives

We know now that art has been reflected upon the silver sheet. Sir Anthony Hope’s "Rupert of Hentzau” is an art film and, being such, it brings new glory and credit to the screen. The HAMMERJSTSS3T movie Is closely knit together and the story veems to center about one episode. All interests centers upon a beautiful queen who had sacrificed herself for her people by marrying a worthless king. And what a cast it has. Book at these names of quality —Elaine Hammerstein is the unhappy but beautiful queen. Bert Lytell plays a dual role —that of the romantic lover and the king. Lew Cody is the villain and Hobart Bosworth is an army official. Then there is also present Bryant Washburn, Claire Windsor, Marjorie Daw, Mitchell Lewis, Elmo Lincoln and Irving Cummings. Nearly every one of these players have previously been featured separately in former production. What a cast! In distributing my praise to these careful and sincere players, I believe that honors are about equal. The cast is about as equally balanced as any that has ever been assembled. You will remember the work of Bosworth as the loyal army officer. Most of tis thought that Bosworth could play only “old sea dogs.” You will change your after seeing "Rupert.” Nearly forgot to tell you that this picture has a duel scene which is the real article. This fight In its own way is as powerful and convincing as was the barefist fight in the new edition of "The Spoilers." And the scenery! There is some real art in this picture and you will want to mirror many of the scenes in your memory locket. The palace scenes are of rare beauty and the last “shot" by the ocean will make you want to applaud. You will find all the secret attributes of successful entertainment in "Rupert of Hentzau” at the Ohio this week. It is to your advantage to see this one. Ross Reynold nad his Palais Garden orchestra began yesterday the first week of its engagement at the Ohio. Here is an interesting organization. The bill includes a comedy and other features. Modern Bluebeard Didn’t Kill ’Em. He Divorced Them The modern Bluebeard will never be wanted for murder. He married his women and then divorced them. That is they were all divorced until the eighth. They all grot alimony, all but the last one. Florence Vidor The story yields more easily *to treatment on the screen than on the stage. It is essentially a story of types and types are best presented by the method known as “close-ups." Miss Vidor is an excellent choice for the role of Carol Kennicott, who attempted the hard job of making Main Street artistic. She gives the role the needed human touch. There s a whole lot of Dulcy in Carol, you recall. Blue plays Doc Kennicott in a nat ural sort of a way. You get the impression that Doc is a real American and is quite capable of taking care of himself. Doc might not have the finest party manners in the world, but he had a real heart and a good old Yankee head. There are many honest human mo-

Gibson has shown that he can do good comedy work, and he provides excellent amusement in this film. There is an Army background to the story, witfi Gibson as a tenderfoot lieutenant in a cavalry unit on the Mexican border. The big comedy moment appears when he learns to ride a horse.
