RAIL EMPLOYES ARE BLAMED FOR CROSSING CRASH Fireman, Engineer Arrested Under Charges of City Violations, As the result of the accident in ■which a C. I. & W. railroad switch engine struck a truck at Holmes Ave. crossing Wednesday night, injuring Albert Batz, 58, of Brownsburg, Ind., three are under pxrest today. Hugh Singer, 58, flagman, 357 N. Holmes Ave., is charged with violation of city code ordinance No. 1. 962, ordering all flagmen at rail crossings to be provided with a flag signal by day and lantern by night for the use of giving notice at a reasonable distance all persons approaching the tracks, whether to or not to cross the H. E. Benson, 47, of 230 N. Belle Vieu PI., engineer, and J. O. Harper, 43, of 716 N. East St., are charged with violation of the city code ordinance No. 965, which prohibits any person in charge of a train or engine to cross a street, at which a flagman is required or safety gates or signal bells are in operation, when the flagman is not on duty or the bells or gates are not working. The fine, according to the ordinance, shall not exceed SIOO. STATE BAPTISTS TO MEET 1,000 Visitors and Delegates Expected at Lebanon Convention. By Times Special LEBANON, Ind., Sept. 21.—More than 1,000 visitors and delegates are expected to attend the annual meeting of the State Baptists here Oct. S-12. Some of the strongest men on the Baptist denomination will be on the program. Grabill Bank Robber Sentenced By Timex Special FT. WAYNE, Ind., Sept. 21. —After pleading guilty to a charge of robbing the Grabill State Bank Sept. 6. George W. Moore, 25, was Thursday sentenced to the State reformatory from ten to twenty years by Judge S. A. Wood. Arne Hutchens, 18. charged with complicity in the robbery, pleaded not guilty. His trial Is to begin Immediately. Watson Speaks Tonight The first fall meeting of the Men's Club of the Tabernacle Presbyterian Church is expected to attract a large crowd tonight. Senator James E. Watson will speak. A fried chicken dinner and music by the Tabernacle orchestra are other features. The Italian police are telegraphing fingerprints by means of a system involving use of from 300 to 400 numbered squares.

ANTICIPATED BOOS! IN ANTHRACITE COAL PRICEANNOUNCED Producers Increase Cost From 60 to 90 Cents Per Ton, B > United Press WILKESBARRE. Pa., Sept. 21. An anticipated Increase in the price of domestic anthracite coal at the mines because of the 10 per cent increase in wages in the new contract went into effect today. The price lists of several large producing companies show increases ranging from 60 to 90 cents per ton at the mines. The Susquehanna Coal Colleries Company increased the price of egg, stove and chestnut 60 cents per ton, while the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company Increased prices 90 cents per ton. The Delaware and Hudson Company increased 70 cents. Some company officials said retailers would not place the entire increase on the consumers. Makes Suicide Attempt SEYMOUR, Ind., Sept. 21.—Holland Amos, 37, a laborer, is In a serious condition as the result of drinking poison in an attempt to end his life. Domestic trouble is said to be the cause of the attempt.

BAPTISTS MEETING CLOSES Two-Day Session at Noblesville Ends Today. By Times Special NOBLESVILLE, Ind., Sept. 21— The fifty-ninth annual meeting so the Indiana Harmony Baptist Association in a two-day session at the Liberty Church will close today. The churches of Noblesville, Alexandria, Anderson, Elwood, Gas City, Marion, Salem and Summitville are represented.
