ORDER TO ARREST LOAFERS FAILS TO STOPBURGLARIES Thieves Grow 80ld —Carry Away Iron Bed and Porch Swing. Despite special orders Issued two days ago by Police Chief Herman RlkhofT to arrest all “loafers" burglary reports continued to come In today. William McGraw, 2U83 Allen St., today said his home was entered while he was away and $6 and an automobile key were stolen. Charles E. Wilson, 2535 Allen St., said his home was entered by forcing a basement window and an automobile key stolen. Both houses were ransacked. A Mrs. Fisk, living near the Wilson home, heard a noise, but was ill and unable to reach a telephone to call poice. Household Goods Stolen Whlld Mrs. Nellie Aufderheid, 837 N. Delaware St., was on her front porch Thursday night, a thief entered the rear door. Bed clothing, towels, silverware and $6 were missing. Mrs. Aufderhied said one room was completely ransacked. Cliff Arnold, proprietor of a barber shop at 3320 E. Tenth St., said a thief took $13.60. Ed Hall, 1204 W. Washington St., reported theft of an iron ted. Mrs. Ida Gibson, colored, 629 W. at S4O, stolen from his car, parked at Illinois and Pearl Sts. A six-foot wicker porch swing, valued at S2O, was missing today from the home of John Shanley, 656 E. Forty-Second St. The. swing was stoleln while Shanley was away Thursday night. Two pickpockets relieved Mack O'Neil, colored, 2714 Franklin PI., of his purse, containing sl3, on a street car early today. O’Neil seized one of the men, but was unable to hold him. Sixty-Seven Arrested Charges against Arthur Batley, 3007 Hovey St., arrested on a vagrancy charge by two patrolman at the Thirtieth St. bridge over Fall Creek at 2:30 a. m. Thursday, were continued In city court. Police say Batley hai passed about twelve worthless checks in payment for an automobile which was found near the scene of his arrest. There were no license plates or certificate of title in the car. Sixty-seven men and nine women were under arrest today on various charges. Most of the men were held on vagrancy charges as part of the clean-up campaign. TWO CAPTURED IN CHASE Police Hold White Mule Found in Auto as Evidence After a pursuit. Sergeant Sheehan’s night rider squad caught and arrested Tom Lee, colored. 425 Muskingum St., and Henry Gordon, colored, 330 W. Michigan St., on the charge of operating a blind tiger. Police today had thirty-one half pints and a quart bottle of white mule whiskey, as evidence. The liquor was found In Lee’s automobile after the police chased the car three miles, officers said. Newcastle Resident Dies By Timet Special NEWCASTLE, Ind., Aug. 10 John R. Page, 72, agent and operator on the Big Four Railroad, died here last night of acute Indigestion. He moved here from Anderson a year ago. He had served two terms as treasurer pf Madison County.
