TEN-CENT MOTOR FUELPREOICTED Oil Men. Expect Drop in oline Prices. LOS ANGELES, Aug. B.—Oil men herd predict that gasoline will drop to 10 cents a gallon in this vicinity in the near future. While oil companies are frantically attempting to cope with overproduction, oil is pouring out of the ground faster than tankers, trains and pipe lines can handle It. New wells are being brought in daily, and leading producers contend that uniless production is curbed, crude oil will be running to waste at Santa Fe Springs, Huntington Beach and Signal Hill. Gasoline prices have already fallen far below prices elsewh_ere in the United States and now range from 13 to 19 cents a gallon including a 2-cent per gallon road tax. If the price props to 10 cents, as predicted, the Southern California oil industry will be wrecked, it is said. Pessimists claim the low price will prevail for only a short time, but that it will stop production and eventually send the prices soaring to 30 or 40 cents a gallon. The big companies have been holding conferences for several weeks for the purpose of formulating plans for curbing production and maintaining a higher level of prices. The independent companies have steadfastly refused to join in this scheme and price cutting continues. Meanwhile, the Standard Oil Company is rushing construction of the world's largest oil reservoir, which will hold 3.000,000 barrels in storage, at El Segundo.
