By United Netcs NEW YORK, Aug. 3.—Death of President Harding, with the next national convention less than a year off, leaves the Republican party in a chaotic state. His -was the control of the party organization, the convention machinery and the substance of conservative element within the party which would have assured his renomination. But now, the list are wide open. There will be a clamor of leaders of every politicel shade in the ~G. O. P., to seize the reins—from LaFollette to Jim Watson of Indiana —in an effort to win the party nomination. Lodge Enters With Vice-President Coolidge In the White House, however, the directing power of the government will be even more stronly centered now in the hands of eastern conservatives, headed by Senator Henry Cabot Lodge of Coolidge’s home state.
