'FETTERS’WARNED BY STATE POLICE Sheriff Breaks Up Parties of Auto Spooners. Sixty-eight automobile petting parties’ were interrupted on country roads In Marlon County during July by Sheriff George Snider, Deputy Sheriff Holland Snider, and State Policemen Young and Shinn, they said today. The motorists were warned arrests would follow if the practice was not stopped. In one case where a man and a girl, 16, were found In a car halted late at night on “Lovers Lane,” a side road near the Georgetown road, Juvenile Court authorities are investigating. Forty-two speeders were arrested and convicted during the month. Thirteen gamblers caught in open-air craps game northeast of the city on the Pendleton Pike were convicted. Sixteen were arrested on charges of operating an automobile without a State license. HEAVY FOG tjOLDfc OFF RUSH OF IMMIGRANTS Ten Vessels Race to Be First In New Monthly Quota. .. A dense bank of fog off Nantucket Lightship and extending 100 miles eastward, confined the midnight race of liners to ten vessels. Another ten vessels could not reach Gravesend Bay. Final reorganization of the Cadle Tabernacle Evangelistic Association probably will be completed at a meeting Thursday, D. L. Speicher, one of the owners of the Tabernacle building at Ohio and New Jersey Sts., said today. The new association, he said, will be known as the Indianapolis Gospel Tabernacle Association.

Washington St., today reported to police lumber valued at SSOO was stolen from a garage in Lyons Ave., a half block north of Washington St The thieves hauled away 3,500 feet of lining, 3,000 feet of two-by-fours and fifteen window frames. PROBE OF FATAL AGCIDENTSTARTS Mrs, Mary Coy to Be Burred Thursday, A complete investigation Into an accident that cost the life of Mrs. Mary Coy, 43, of 3518 W. Michigan St., was promised today by Coroner Paul F. Robinson. Mrs. Coy was killed Instantly Tuesday when a Crawfordsville interurban struck her automobile, said to have stalled on the tracks at Tibbs Ave. It is believed Mrs. Coy did not see the aproaching car because of trees and shrubs on the east side of the street, near the crossing, a3 she drove south on Tibbs Ave. Long rows of freight cars are kept on Big Four Railroad tracks, which parellel the Interurban tracks. Motorists have complained these prevent their seeing approaching tfalns and interurbans. There are two Interurban and four railroad tracks at this crossing. The funeral of Mrs. Coy will be held at her home at 2 p. ,m. Thursday. Burial will be at Mt. Jackson. FARMERS VISIT PURDUE - ft Starting Experimental Trips at the Close of Harvest. By United Prest LAFAYETTE. Ind., Aug. I.—With the grain harvest completed in many parts of the State, groups of farmers are again starting their visits to Purdue University to familiarize themselves with the experimsntal work. The first group will be here Thursday from Putnam County. They will be with O. H. McNary, county agent. H. E. Ackerman, Carrol County agent, will bead a group of Burlington Township farmers here Aug. 10. Several other delegations have tentative dates.
FOUR HOOSIERS NAMED Men Chosen for Board of World’s Largest Building. Four Indiana men have been selected to the board of governors of the American Furniture Mart, which will be the largest building In the world when it is completed in Chicago. They are: Charles A. Albrecht, In dianapolis, president of the Cabinet Makers’ Union; John J. Madden, Indianapolis, president of the John J. Madden Manufacturing Company; J. W. Caswell. Huntington. Ind., and W. Edwards Showers. Bloomington, Ind. The building will be sixteen stories high, a block wide and a block ’and a half long and will cost $10,000,000. Railroads Use Most Steel Manufacturers of steel used in general construction are the smallest users of the metal, while railroads arc the largest consumers, Robert Berner told the Rotary Club at the weekly luncheon at the Claypool. SHE Western Salvage Wrecking Company of Chicago was paying me $5 a day for being their Indianapolis shipping clerk. We shipped 108 cars of salvage from the several stores burned down in the great S. Meridian St. fire. I also got married that year. INDIANA FARMERS BORRGWHEAVILY Federal Reserve System Yields $50,722,234, Indiana farmers, up to June 30, 1923, borrowed $50,722,234, or nearly 5 per cent of the total of $1,160,695,516 advanced In the United States through the Federal farm loan system, according to a Government report today. During the last year Indiana farmers borrowed $17,476,225 —$10,686,025 from the joint stock land banks and $6,790,200 through the Federal Land Bank at Louisville, Ky. During the last year the total amount borrowed by farmers in the forty-eight States was $445,389,813. Evans Woollen, president of the Fletcher Savings and Trust Company of Indianapolis, largest of the threejoint stock land banks in Indiana, said the institution had loaned a net total of $11,250,934.98 to Indiana and Illinois farmers.
