INSULATION IS • POTEfff FACTOR Proper Paper Will Increase Comfort the Year Round, Real living comfort, summer and winter, minimum fuel bills, resistance to change of temperature—all are absolutely dependent upon the wall of the house. Dry' and walls, floors and roofs result from proper insulation. Not only are the fuel bills lowered, the summer comfort Improved, but proper Insulation te%ds to better health for the entire ramily. Neponset water-proof building paper <■ the standard among architects and

contractors because it insulates the building against interior draughts and dampness so Injurious to health. The ordinary non-waterproof paper absorbs moisture and cannot keep the Interior of the building free from dampness and chilliness, any more than wet clothing can protect the wearer from rain. Even when placed In water this paper will not disintegrate, nor will it soak up a particle of the water. This paper goes under shingles, behind clapboards and in stucco walls; It Is also used for temporary roofing for sheds and farm buildings. Its use as a lining for cellar walls has made for It many friends. The Vonnegut Hardware Company carries a full line of this building paper as well as a complete line of builders’ hardware and other needs incident to the erection of a building. The company is experienced in build ing and its needs and Is glad to give to its customers the benefit of years of experience in handling these supplies.

Apartments and Hotels Are the Realization of a Life-Long Dream and Plan of E. G. Spink, Prominent Pioneer Builder

A theory put into practice—a dream come true —was what resulted when E. O. Spink of the E. G. Spink Company. 914 Hume Mansur Bldg., saw his first apartment building completed In 1916. Since that time he has erected apartments in all parts of Indianapolis and still continues to build new ones although his apartment houses now stretch up toward the hundred mark. None has given the builder more pleasure though than the first one of thirty-six apartments, for in that building he saw the crystallization of a dream—the answer to the problem of housing In a city that was growing rapidly. “It has been my idea,” said Mr. Spink, “to Incorporate Into a small

INSTANT HEATING OF WATER IS NOW MADEPRACTICAL New System Gives User Running Hot Water at Turn of Spigot. Labor-saving devices that are being installed In the new homes of todayare more and more varied and each seems .to be an improvement over any that has gone before, but certainly the greatest of all such labor-saving devices are the perfected automatic water heaters which make it possible for one to have running hot or cold water at command. No longer does one have to wait from one-half to one hour for the water to heat—lt is automatically hot with the turn of a faucet, and the kitchen, the laundry, the bathroom are supplied with streams of steaming water. With the perfected automatic water heaters carried by the Capitol Plumbing Company, 3364 North Capitol Ave., it is as easy to have an unlimited supply of really hot water as it is to have light from an electric lamp—in both Instances all that is necessary is the control of the switch, which in the case of the heater is the faucet. ~ This company specializes in careful installation of all plumbing fixtures and equipment, realizing that the service of the heater is almost wholly controlled by Its installation. Authentic advice is given as to the type and size of heater that is best suited to th needs of the home owner, this being dependent upon the size of the house and the size of the family. These automatic heaters can be attached to old plumbing already installed without any change whatever and with little cost and will furnish the source of a nevetjrfalling hot water supply. V

This is accomplished through having a very large living room in some instances the living room is as large as the living rooms found in large homes and in all instances it is large enough for comfort. All apartments have small but complete kitchenettes. Pullman dining alcoves, dressing rooms and in every case a fully equipped bath. The general plan of tne apartments makes

Florida Winter Is Brought Here

In this climate where heat must be supplied the major part of the year In order to have Che home comfortable, the matter of the heating plant is one of greatest importance. It has been found through experience thßt the installation of an oil burner makes for the greatest comfort, the highest degree of cleanlines and uniformity that can not be obtained with any other fuel. The Williams OihO-Matlc burner, carried by the W. D. Long Company, 144 E. Ohio St., has proved its efficiency to such an extent that the people who have had them installed In their homes like them better and better with each succeeding year. Avery Interesting incident is related by Mrs. C. S. Harris of this city, who had a burner installed In her home last winter. Expecting to go to Florida because of her innbiliity to looking after her heating plant herself and having considerable difficulty in getting the services of a reliable person to tend the furnace, and believing that the winter here

FLOORSURFACER WORKSWONDERS Machine Will Do Work of Six Men, Interior decorators of the present day say "start with your floors” for the beauty of broad expanses, lustrous and velvety, give perspective to the most effective setting. To give attention to the wall tones and the character and harmony of the appointments of the room, disregarding all the while the appearance of the floors, is to overlook the source of the greatest possibility In achieving a home of refinement and beauty. According to C. B. ’Wooster, floor surfacing contractor, there Is no need

for comfort and they are finished In such a way as to # afford a very at tractive appearance. In-a-door beds are provided In order that as much space may be conserved as possible. “Wo are proud of the service we provide in our apartment houses. In all cases heat, gas electric lights, water and ice are furnished. “In all of the above buildings and In nearly all of the rest elevator service Is furnished. “Considering the service provided It has been found that apartment rent, when contrasted with house rent, totals up very encouragingly, and In nearly all instances provides more comfort with a great deal less effort. "Apartments are a boon to the "bachelor girl,” or to the newly-

would overtake her strength, she was told by W. D. Long that if she would have an 011-0 Matic installed she would bring Florida to her home. She decided to do so. Throughout the winter she was an enthusiastic booster for the burner and has put In one for this season in the other side of her home, which is a double house Not only Is W. I>. Long a pioneer in the oil burner business In Indllanapolis but he was the first man to install an loc refrigerating plant in a home here. He still carries a full line of the Isko Refrigerating plants. “It Is a pleasure,” said Mr. Long, "to deal in such products as the Williams 011-0 Matic burner and the Isko Refrigerating plant for I am very glad to recommend them to a friend as I realize the great amount of service they will give. Each user ir glad to urge his personal friends to buy them knowing .they will be absolutely pleased with the results and this is In truth meeting the acid test.”

of having dirty, worn, unsightly floors. The American Universal surfacing machine cleans out the dirt, takes off the stains and removes old varnish, wax and paint, smoothes out the worn spots and makes the floors as good as new. “This machine not only surfaces new floors but resurfaces old floors. It has a drum, around which Is placed a sheet of sand paper that Is driven by an electric motor. A vacuum cleaner automatically bags the dust and dirt and leaves the floors clean and beautiful. The work is done much more perfectly that human hands could possibly do It and at the same time it Is done with a great saving of time, energy and expense, for in a given amount of time one machine will accomplish the work of six men. Besides, there is no fuss or muss incident to the old method. “Too much cannot be said about the effect that the floors have on the general atmosphere of a home. They can do more than anything else to bring about reflected beauty, cha.rm and elegance. 4

married couple, especially if both are working downtown, for it takes little tunc to care for a modern apartment, yet It Is a private household domain with all the possibilities of a home. "The Spink-Arms Hotel is the outgrowth of the apartment Idea, providing at the same time all the facilities of a hotol. The hotel is beautifully finished and the lounges are considered to be the handsomest of . v in the country. The dining room and other regular services are all of the very highest order, and when compared to similar hotels in Detroit, Chicago and other large cities, the rates are found to be from 25 to 50 per cent cheaper."

BUSINESS REVIVAL EXPECTED IN 10 OR MONTHS Dr, Haney Says Business Cycle Is Running True to Form, By DR. LEWIS H. HANEY. Director of Bureau of Business Research, New York UniversityNEW YORK, July 28.—The business cycle seems to be running true to form. It shows the usual technical rise and fall, but as usual each cycle differs in some respects from all other- This Is why so many forecasters who try to reason from past experiences fall. As early last December there were signs that demand was beginning to run behind supply, since goods were piling up faster than the rate of price advances warrantedThen in March the stock market began to decline. About the same time, forward buying feU off, and soon wholesale prices sagged. Finally, in May, it became clear that the volume of business was passing the peak level. Contemplated building projects became smaller, bank debits to Individual accounts indicate,! smaller volume of trade, mail order sales showed reduced amounts and exports declined. Thus we are cl*rly slipping down the slope of a cytf|tlcal dip in business. The question is how far will we slip, and how long will the downswing do? Two conclusions are pretty plain: 1. The adverse factors are too strong to enable any sharp early recovery. 2. The favorable factors are sufficient to prevent much further decline. On the one hand are the poor export outlook, the reduced purchasing power of many farmers, the decreasing margin between wages and prices, and uncertainty due to radical legislation. On the other hand, credit condi-

My guess Is that the price decline wljl be checked In two or three months. I look for the stock market to drag until about September, wken some upward movement should cole.
