POLICE COOPERATE IN HUNTING FOR HIGHWAY BANDITS Third Hold-up by Masked Men ' in Automobile Is Reported, With three hold-ups of motor parties on country roads reported In the last forty-eight hours police night rider ■quads planned to cooperate with Sheriff Snider in attempting to capture the two or more bandit bands thought to be operating. The third hold-up was reported by Herbert Mayne, Davenport, lowa, who ■aid he and Miss Ruth Williams, telephone operator, while riding on a road one mile north and two miles east of Irvington were accosted by two masked bandits at 10:30 p. m. Monday. Two Reported Sunday Two other highway robberies were reported Sunday night. Mayne told Patrolmen Hanley and De Rossette, two men in a sedan blocked the road about 150 feet in front of them. One man walked back to Mayne’s car. The bandit wore a handkerchief over his face. He pointed a revolver at Mayne and forced him to get out of the automobile. Pockets Searched Then the otner robber came up and searched Mayne’s pockets, taking sl2. Miss Williams was robbed of $3. Mayne said there may have been a third man in the bandits’^automobile. The robber w r ho had the revolver was about 24 years old. five feet ten inches in height and weighed 150 pounds. He wore a light cap and a dark suit. The other bandit appeared to be twenty-five years old. He was about five feet seven inches irpheight, weighed 145 pounds, wore a dark suit and cap and was masked.
PRISONER BEGS 10 - BE MAY’ Request Granted With Penitentiary Sentence, “Send me off to prison. Judge.” implored Albert Coffey, 48, of 1308 W. Thirtieth St. “I can’t stand this white mule.” He is in jail today awaiting transportation to Michigan City. Judge James A. Collins, of Criminal court revoked a suspension of a one to five year Indiana State Prison sentence given Coffey Feb. 28 on his plea of guilty to forgery and issuing fraudulent checks. “Drink is my curse, and when I crave it, I ■will do anything to get it, even sign bad checks,” he said. “Put me away.” A few weeks ago Coffey told court attaches he didn’t think he “could hold out much longer,” but was advised to try it.

Plans for the construction of Indiana University’s new sl,ooo.ooft union building and the $250,000 stadium will be considered at a meeting of the board of trustees of the university at 6:30 tonight at the Claypool. One proposed site for the union building is one northeast section of the campus, which would necessitate removal of two buildingsBids on the stadium will be opened at the meeting. The stadium will be of concrete with 22,000 seating capacity. NON-STOP DRIVER STILL GOING AFTER 98 HOURS Lockwood Expects to Keep Running Until Thursday Night. Still handcuffed to the steeringwheel of his Durant car, H. L. Lockwood continued to drive today for a nonstop endurance record. At noon he had been driving ninety-eight hours. Lockwood is running back and forth between Richmond and Indianapolis on the National road. Oil and gasoline are put into the car while it is in motion. Rockwood said he Is feeling well and expects to continue driving until some time Thursday night-. A previous record made by Lockwood is 105 hours of continuous driving. / TWO MEN DROWN IN HUDSON LAKE ACCIDENT Survivors Admit Drinking, Acording to Police Statement. By Timet Special LA PORTE, Ind., July 10.—Richard Fritz, 31, and Theodore Roth, 17, both of South Bend, were drowned in Hudson Lake. The men fell from a boat. Carl Roth, brother of Theodore, and Louis Herltz, 21, were rescued. Heritz was rescued by Fred Kaempf, Chicago and Roth by J. H. Kirk, attache of a lake resort. The men were rocking the boat, witnesses said. The survivors, in a sworn statement, admitted they had been drinking, police said. Autos Stolen James told police today a thief took his sedan from Meridian and New York Sts. Monday night. T. E. Thornton, 118 W. Wabash St., reported a truck missing from bis garage.
