‘Ain’t We Got Fun?’ Ties Up New Palace Bill

By WALTER D. HICKMAN. Do you Remember Newhoff and Phelps? Mayjw you don’t, but you do recall a song, “Ain’t We Got Fun?” Newhoff and Phelps helped to put this song on the musical map some seasons ago. They are singing it on the new bill at the Palace. This team puts a sort of a crooning, baby talk twister talk Into this song which makes It a sensation. These singers have a way all their own. They have personality and they know just how to use it. They start their musical riot with a burlesque on “Toot, Toot, Tootsie.” Then on top of this riot they do "Among the Sleepy Hills of Tennessee,” and for no reason at all they paralyze everybody with a quarrel song. Then the demand for more and more is so strong that they do the famous “Ain’t We Got Fun” number. A positive delight and they deserve the ovation. Eddie Nelson, blackface, is one of the many who is following in the footsteps of A1 Jolson. He sings Jolson’s latest, "Morning Will Come.” He found the going easy when I reviewed the show.
