WAYNE, Ind., June 11 —'Therein Denner, 24, arrested In a raid on an alleged gambling room, was shot and fatally wounded when he attempted to escape from a police automobile. Denner jumped from the car and ran about feet before officers could get out. They called to tha fugitive and then fired In the air. When Denner failed to stop. John I*. Pritchard, motorcycle policeman, flreA the fatal shot. Denner died on tlifi operating table of a hospital. The bullet pierced his lung. Four men were arrested In the raid. WORKS DESPITE INJURY Lawyer With Unset Broken Arm Defends Man. While an unset broken arm gave alrtiost unbearable pain, P. J. McCormick, attorney, 375 Prospect St., defended a client in city court today. The client could not give bond at ')! delay would have meant he wounr have had to stay in Jail. McCormick, was cranking his automobile at his home when it kicked back. He came to police headquarters in another car and defended Edward Duncan, colored, 35, of 910 Maple St. charged with carrying ooncealed weapons.
