Marks on the body indicated the woman had fought desperately with her slayer. Sheriff Donahey believes It to be a “plain case of murder,” and the body placed In Its watery crypt some time after the slaying. The body was clad in a gray dress, gray shoes and stockings and a gray fur. Handwriting experts were immediately put to work on the anonymous letter. CK SAVED AS TWO SHIPS WRECK Both Vessels Pile on Reefs in Double Sea Disaster, By United Press SEATTLE, Wash., June B.—Crews of two ships, victims of a double disaster on the hidden rocks near Chrikof Island, TOO miles south of the Alaskan peninsula, were saved today by the U. S. S. supply ship, Cuyama. The mine-sweeper Cardinal and the survey ship Discoverer were both wrecked when wind-lashed waves dashed over the vessels on Rocky Reefs. The Cardinal plied up on the roiks late yesterday and It wa3 apparent she might become & total loss. The Discoverer answered her call3 for aid and met the same fate. Early today radio advices said the Cuyama removed the crews of the two vessels safely In small boats. A total of 135 men were aboard the ships.

Indiana sent 726,323 cases (thirty dozen) of eggs to New York last year, according to a statement of the New York Bank of America. This was the third largest shipment by States. ANOTHER THEORY IN M’GROARTY DEATH Relatives Do Not Believe Park Secretary Drowned Self, Miss Sadie McGroarty, secretary fit the park board, whose body was found Monday in Niagara River below Niagara Falls, dlcTnot meet death by her own hands, according to a telegram received by Mrs. Hubert S. Riley, sister of Miss McGroartj*. from her husband, at Buffalo, today. Mrs. Riley said this conclusion was based upon the facts that there was no outer clothing on the body when it was found and that more than SIOO which Miss McGroarty had with her had disappeared. The body will arrive In Indianapolis Saturday. The funeral will be held Monday at 9 a. m. at St. John's Catholic Church. Burial be In Holy Cross Cemetery. Doubt as to the identity of the body was removed late Friday when post tive identification was made by Riley. Miss McGroarty, who had been in 111 health for a long time, disappeared more tljan a month ago.
DROWNING VICTIM IS UNIDENTIFIED Body of Man Found Floating In Fall Creek, Efforts to Identify the body of the man drowned In Fall Creek had been unsuccessful today. A number of persons visited the funeral parlors of Royster & Asklns. 837 N. Illinois St., Thursday night and today in an attempt to identify the body. The dead man was described 3 six feet high and weighing 160 pounds. He had long, straight, black hair. He had brown eyes. His teeth were regular. There were no scars, moles, warts or tattoo marks on the body. The feet were unusually small for a man his size. Th3 age was estimated at 22 to 26 years. Hla hands bore no evidence of hard work. Waldo Carter, 1526 Bryum Ave., discovered the nude body floating In Fall Creek near Thirty-Fourth St. late Thursday. Motor Police Heller and Petit recovered the body. George Edwards, 2233 Yandes St., said he was fishing Tuesday and saw clothing on the bank of Fall Creek. The clothing included a blue serge suit, silk shirt, low black shoes, and black hah Police failed to find the clothes. The body appeared to have been In the water for some time. This Is the third drowning during the week, Hast year eleven persons were drowned while swimming iu streams of Marlon County.
