Fox Springs HorseRadish Conversation
By "WALTER D. HICKMAN Jk t ORSE-RADISH conversation Is 1 bound to be “hot” talk. It Is anew brand of talk Which Is being ldshed out by Dave Tox and Jane Allyn on the new bill at the Palace. Dave wants to know “Can you make horse-radish out of an old horse?" Count me on the answer, Dave, because that same question has worried me for years. I never have been able to find the “horse” in horseradish, except in Mister Webster’s lengthy book of words. I like this Dave Fox and his partner In variety fun, Jane Allyn. They have real class, and one of those breezy, nice, clever tolerant ways in dishing out their fun. Dave admits in song that he is a eheik without a tent or an orient, because he “feeds ’em, fondles ’em, fools ’em and then forgets ’em.” He is speaking of girls, not horseradish. Really I am very fond of the work of this delightful team. They will give you a mental breeze if you will visit the Palace this week-end. On the bill is Wade Booth, an American barytone. frightened because he doesn’t act like grand opera on a vacation but impresses me as the real sort. He does the well known “My Buddy” song well and he will pleass you with a clever Irish song. Not to be missed. Valentine Fox is a ventriloquist who causes a dummy bellboy to talk, sing and whistle. Rudell and Dunigan use a special drop in putting over song and conversation. The Wilson Aubrey Trio close their act with a comedy wrestling match. Warr's Jazz Symphonists introduce a common washboard as a Jazz-mak-ing Instrument. These players start off along the same old beaton path of the average Jazz orchestra, but the minute they begin Introducing real novelties they have no trouble.
