OUSTER OF PASTOR! OP TO HIS FLOCK IN M CLASH Church Board, by Majority Vote, Asks Davison to Step Out. Efforts to oust Rev. F. E. Davison, Engle-wood Christian Church pastor, who protested from the pulpit recently against holding what he termed was a Ku-Klux Klan meeting In the community house, centered in the congregation of the church today. Those In charge of the meeting denied it was In the interest of any secret body. A congregational meeting will be held the night of June 21 to act upon the recommendation of the official board of the church Thursday night demanding the pastor's resignation. ; The action of the board was taken after a three-hour debate, which at times became bitter. Vote 18 to 10 The vote p-as IS to 10. Rev. Davison made a determined defense and characterized the action of his opponents ! as “unfair and un-Christian.” “There j wap almost a straight Ku-Klux Klan vote against me,” he said. “I am wait-1 ing for the congregation to decide the issue.” The demand for the pastor’s resig- j nation was made "for the best inter-: ests of our church and to assure its "unhampered development in the future,” according to the resolution presented by eight members of the board.
