AMERICANS QUIT LEMPARLEY U. S, Delegation Refuses to Talk at Opium Session. By United Press GENEVA, June I.—The entire United States delegation walked out cf the opium commission meeting at League of Nations headquarters today. The 'American refused to answer questions regarding their proposals or to participate In discussion. $> Chairman Porter of the house of foreign affairs committee and other American leaders, recently appeared before the commission urging steps be taken to stop production of drugs. Work to Begin Soon By Times Special HAMMOND. Ind., June I.—The Great Lakes Dredge and Docks Company Is ready to begin work on the Burns ditch, to be constructed at a cost of *51,600,000. The ditch Is designed to prevent floods on the Little Calument River and to reclaim thousands of acres of low land between here and Gary.

TWO ARE HELD AFTER AUTOMOBILE ‘JOY RIDE’ Mrs. Minnie Franklin Alleges an Attempt to Kidnap and Attack Asa climax of what Emanuel Gabauer, 21, of 2630 College Ave., today described as a “joy ride with two married women." he was under arrest charged with attempt to attack Mrs. Minnie Franklin, 2234 W, Morris St., and with drawing deadly weapons. Mrs. Ethel Thomas, 29, of 1205 W. Ray St., was charged with assault and battery with intent to kidnap. Both were arrested on warrants sworn to by Mrs. Franklin. Detectives Larsh and Englebright made the arrests. The "joy ride” occurred Wednesday, Gabauer said. He said a man named Davis threw a hammer through the glass of his car and also told of a fight with four men. He said he drew a revolver and forced the men to stand back. Gabauer denied any attack on Mrs. Franklin. BLIND PLAN CONCERT The closing concert of th Indiana School for the Blind will be held Tuesday night in the school auditorium.
