HEW MYSTERIES INTRODUCED INTO MOUNT SLAYING iigh School Boys Cut Hole in Pier Where Body Was Found, CHICAGO, May 9.—New mysteries ere precipitated into the alleged * laying of Leighton Mount, Northestern University freshman today. Three high school boys, Rappael velly, Thomas J. Horan and Robert vnaggs,. told Evanston police that hey cut the hole in the Lake lichigan pter under which the outh's body was found. They said his was nine months after Mount's iisappearance and they used the inide of the structure for a dressing oom when swimming in the lake. Authorities believed they either ilayed within a few feet of Mount's keleton in the dark interior for weeks or that it was placed there ifter being hidden for months elsewhere. The '"grand jury probe continued with Mr. and Mrs. .T. L. Mount, Leighton’s parents and Miss Doris Fuch, his sweetheart testifying. Mrs? Mount, a tragic figure, refuted a suicide theory' and declared she urged her son to join the class rush in which he is alleged to have been slain because she did not want him to be a "sissy." J. Allen Mills, 1921 freshman president, returned from Akron, told State’s Attorney Robert E. Crowe’s investigators that after he had led a search for Mount several days that President Walter Dill Scott of the university told him to “lay off.”
POLICE BEGIN TO ROUND OP CROOKS ‘Known Criminals' Ordered Arrested. Detectives today launched a roundup of “known criminals” in Indianapolis. Orders to arrest all men known to have records on charges of vagrancy were issued, by Inspector of Detectives John Mullin. Those who can prove they are respectably employed will be released. Those who cannot will be ordered out of the city. Mullin said. One man believed to have been connected with a gang of pickpockets which has operated extensively here recently, was arrested. "I understand there is plenty of work for everybody and I don't want arfy of these known criminals loafing around Indianapolis,” said Mullin.

Allen Mills, Northwestern University freshman president in 1921, who was secretly removed from Akron, Ohio, to Chicago by Illinois authorities for questioning in the investigation, into the death of Leighton Mount, Northwestern student. SHOW OWNERS TO FACE ‘BLUE LAW’ CHARGES MAY U Movie Operators Arrested for Keeping Open on Sunday, Justice of the Peace J. B. Mullane, 5448 E. Washington St., In whose court were filed affidavits, charging operation of theaters on Sunday, which resulted in the arrest of eleven motion picture house owners and picture machine operators, said today that one more arrest is to be made. When asked who filed the affidavits, Mullane said: “I’m not sure and It’s none of my business until the cases come up In my court at 9:30 a. m. May 24, but it was my impression that the Motion Picture Operators’ Union is responsible. Why, I don’t know.” According to Martin Hugg, attorney for some of the defendants, the affidavits were filed by a representative of the union. Among the defendants are J. Luther Murdock and Wilbur Murdock, owner and machine operator, respectively, of the Savoy Theater, 1225 Oliver Ave.; Anzie C. Zaring and William H. Griffin, owners, and George Freeman, machine operator, of the Garrick Theater, 2959 N. Illinois St., and Lela Birchfield, owner, and William V. Birchfield, machine operator, of the Illinois Theater, 2118 N.
