A SURE CURE FOR TROUBLE FOUND ’ BTLOCAL PASTOR Dr. Robertson Finds Prayer and Faith the Remedy for Worry, "Parents will find persistent prayer is the best solution for all family troubles and bo will husbands and wives." Dr. E. A. Robertson declared Kunday night at the East Park if. E. ' ’hurch while preaching on “A Sure • "ure for Trouble.” "Most of the trouhle that worries ;>oople is lmaginery,” Dr. Robertson said. “Many look for trouble all their lives and confidently expect It, but 'omebow most of it fails to materialze. When borrowing trouble one dnds that he cannot name the person of whom he borrows. He cannot beg, buy or even steal any trouble to return. and, It Is doubtful If the other fellow wishes It returned. ■‘However, there is plenty of real trouble in the world and sooner or iater each one of us gets his port!an and thus we learn to sympathize with other troubled hearts, “For convenience, troubles may be classified as follows: “1. Domestic troubles. including natural anxiety of parents for children. strained relations between baseband and wife, brothers and sisters *or art occasional disagreeable member of the family. ‘‘2. Business trouble. This includes anxiety concerning a note about due. but which you feel unable to pay or renew. The competition of a dishonest competitor or the annoyance of a disagreeable partner. Many because cf falling health or strength are afraid of losing their job. “3. Spiritual trouble. Each of tw has to fight the same hattle with sin. varying according to one’s character and temperament. One of the most solemn realities of life is that one must live with himself through time and eternity. “4. Physical troubles. Th'c include all the ailments that flesh is heir to, including the infirmities of old age." Robertson Gives Sore fore for All Trouble Dr. Robertson then gave his sure cure for all troubles. He gave this quotation from the Bible—“ Call upon Me In the day of trouble and I will deliver thee, and thou shalt. glorify." He said that it was necessary to call upon God and to bring all troubles to Him. In applying the rule. Dr. Robertson said: “Business men who submit all '■ their transactions to God will escape i many difficulties and will enjoy an in-! creasing delight in their partnership j with God. “Let people repent of their sin and ( call upon Him and they will be surprised to see how soon a job will open. spritua! d.fficulties give way to Persistent prayer. “God only has a sure cure for every kind of human trouble," Dr. Robertson said.
THE VALUE OF HOPE Pastor Draws Lessons From Christ’s Death. "It is literally hope which makes the world go round.” the Rev. Charles H. Gunsolus declared Sunday night at the Brightwood Congregational Church. “If Christ be not risen from the dead,” he said, “then we are of all men most miserable. When hope en ters the soul it makes all things new and it insures the progress which it predicts. “Faith, hope and love are the three immortal graces of the soul. Hope finds its roots in faith and it blossoms into love,” he said. TROTTER DESCRIBES HIS LIFE Evangelist Speaks to Caparit} House Sunday Night. Mel Trotter, evangelist holding services in the Park Theater under the auspices of the Wheeler Rescue Mission. preached Sunday night to a capacity audience on "Decision.” He described his own conversion. LOADED SHOTGUN AND CLUB PROTECT PASTORiN PULPIT Minister in Oklahoma Town Threatened After Exposing Law Violators, OKLAHOMA (TTY, May 7.— The gospel is going to be preached at the Army Gospel Messenger Mission down j on S. Robinson Ave. even if it Is neces sary for the pastor to keep a loaded , shotgun and a three-foot club handy in the pulpit. Behind this business-looking array of argument, Adjt.’F. W. Lubhea. aj former hotel cook, preached his ser j mon to his Sunday night congregation, following an attack that a mob had j made on the little mission Friday eve ning. Bricks had been hurled ! through the windows and the minister - showered with a bucket of water thrown through the rear door. “The audience started to leave, but T told them 1 had been baptized once and a little more.water wouldn’t hurt me," Adjutant Lubbes said. “While j Mrs. Lubbes ran for the police. I went on with the song service and kept th< 1 crowd together." The fact that he had turned in the names of hootleggers and gamblers to the police was the reason given by the pastor for the disturbance. The crook*- ■ he said, tried to wreck his mission ir, I revenge, so on Sunday night he pre pared for trouble. But nothing hap pened. “The officers of the Army Gospel Messenger Mission in Chicago knew I was ‘hard-boiled’ and that’s why they sent me down here,’’ the boyish-looking young minister explained, believing his mild appearance. Lubbes was a cook in a Chicago hotel when the Army Gospel Messen ger Mission discovered him. He fned eggs in the kitchen in the day tinv- : and roasted the devil in his ptreet cor ner sermons at night until he finally i turned his whole time to gospel work. ,

PURCHASER OF LUMBER SHOULD DEMAND QUALITY Wood Is Adaptable to Many Uses in Construction of Modern Home, There are different qualities in lumber, just as there are different qualities in all other basic commodities, but too many people buy lumber with the idea of price uppermost. They buy lumber that carries the lowest quotation and do not realize until too late that they pay dearly for this false economy. We have always thought it paid to buy only first-class lumber, believing that there are enough people in this community who appreciate and demand first-class lumber to enable us to find a market for it, and we have found that our theory was right," said O. L>. Haskett, president of the Haskett Lumber Company. “It means a lot to a customer to know he will get exactly the lumber ordered, so we never promise the delivery of an or der until we are sure it can be accomplished. Stylos In I,umber Lumber used for interior finishing and trim is subject to considerable variation. A certain wood will be popular for several years until another wood will supersede It in popularity. Just now we are using a great deal of red gum. a beautiful wood capable of a soft, fine mahogany like appearance when properly finished. "in previous years, except in very expensive jobs, northern birch has been mahoganized for Interior finish; however, red gum from the Yazoo Valley, Is capable of a much superior finish to the northern birch. Os course, walnut and oak are still used by many. Wood is Ydap'able There Is an ever increasing demand for lumber. W are now consuming It five times as fast as It Is being produced. It is exceedingly adaptable to buildin -one an always repair or build to a house that is made of lum her. and the house can he repainted and the entire building will have ex actly the same appearance. This is not true of other building material. "Although many people 'hink lumber high it is 30 per cent under the peak prices of 1920. while margv other building commodities still continue to increase in price." GRAVEL BUCKET IS MADE HERE

GLASS FACTORIES HAVE TROUBLE MEETING DEMAND Closed Car Manufacturing Big Factor in Unprecedented Sales, Notwithstanding the production of plate glass is the largest in the history of the industry, there is an acute shortage in their product, greater than that of 1919. according to Parker S James, president of the Indianapolis Glass Company. “In a trip throughout the East, where I recently visited, the biggest glass manufacturing centers in the country," said James, "I find all factories are working at capacity with day and night shifts. "The biggest part of the plate glass is going to closed automobile manufacturers. When one realizes that fiO per cent of all the cars that are being sold are of enclosed type, the great volume of glass required for this purpose cun he roughly estimated. "Another factor that has counted in the great increase in the demand for plate glass la the building. Furniture calls for a lot of glass in mirrors and desk tops and other equipment. “The newly completed improvements made at the Indianapolis Glass Company have more than doubled tho capacity of the plant and have greatly Increased the storage space as well. "The Indianapolis Glass Company is supplying many of the newly con structed commercial buildings with glass and copper windows and store front construction." FURNACE WORK FOLLOWS BUILDING Rybolt Tells of Increase In Local Business, A building expert recently said the construction business served as a ba rometer for general business conditions. Closely allied to and largely dependent upon the building industry Is that of furnaces, says Harry Rybolt, president of the Rybolt Heating Company. "Naturally all new furnaces do not go into new homes, for In cases of remodeling anew furnace replaces the o’d one. People have grown to he much more careful in the selection of a furnace and Its Installation than they once were. Fuel has advanced so much In price they have found tt pays to take euro of a furnace in every possible way in order to cut down coal consumption as much as pc sslhle. “Many furnaces give unsatisfactory service because they are Improperly installed and not only are they ineffi cient in service hut they burn considerably more coal than they should The men who install our furnaces are experts in this line of work, and for that reason do the job In a highly satisfactory way. "It never pays to buy a cheap furnace in order to save money, for the money saved In the initial expenditure is soon lost in the greater upkeep and unsatisfactory service that results from a cheap grade furnace."
SPRINGS OF CAR NEED ATTENTION Local Concern Is Ready With Expert Service, This is the season when most motorists are giving their cars some needed attention in the way of thorough overhauling and cleaning and taking care of replacements and repairs. Many otherwise careful motorists give little attention to the springs, is the belief of William J. Ashley, president of the Indianapolis Auto Springs Company, 820 W. Washington St. “Asa result of Improper attention and carelessness, automobile owners get lowered efficiency and endless trouble, and often encounter considerable expense because they fall to give the springs of their cars the care they should have. A weak spring, or one out of line, often gets no attention. while it may be the direct cause for a lot of trouble for that motorist. It is an absolute fact that damage resulting from bad springs affects all parts of the car and is the cause oi very considerable trouble and expense. "We maintain a thoroughly modern and well-equipped service station and are prepared to take care of the trouble that any driver Is having with the springs Qf his car.” W. C. T.
