mm men REPLACE STRIKERS Forty non-union plasterers today ire taking places of union men out on strike, according to T. B. Hatfield of the Indianapolis Contractors' Association. ' “There doesn’t seem to be much of a chance for Immediate settlement with the plasterers,” Hatfield said. Hatfield did not know whether employment of non-union men would be permanent or temporary. Robert Fox, president of the build Ings trades council, said today that there will be no action on the part of the council unless the plasters ask for a sympathetic strike. Electricians, who were out on strike until Thursday, have reached an agreement with employers. The new schedule calls for {l.lO an hour until Dec. 1, when an increase of 2% cents an hour becomes effective. Members of other striking unions of the buildings trade council are ' back on their jobs. Plasterers are demanding sll a day. Contractors have offered $lO, it is understood, which would be a slight increase. Alvin M. Owsley Honored. Alvin M. Owsley, national commander of the American Legion, has received a citation and memorial from the National Union of French Combatants of France, it was announced today. A letter by Charles Bertrand, -head of the organization, accompanied the citation.
