STEPS TAKEN FOR PAVING STREETS s Works Board Records Resolutions for Improvements, New resolutions for the permanent Improvement of nine streets were on the records of the board of works today. They were: Broadway from Fifty-Second to FiftyFourth from* Northwestern Are. to E. Riverside tr,; Fifty-Third St. from Pennsylvania St. to the Monon R.;Jlroad; Harlan Bt. from Maryland St. to Southeastern Are.. Weghorst St. from East to Leonard St.; Temple Aye. from Seventeenth St. to Broohside Parkway; N. Dr.; Alword St. from Thirteenth to Fifteenth St., and Brookway from Tacoma Ave. to first alley east of Temple Ave. These resolutions for the permanent improvement of alleys were adopted: First alley east of Arsenal Ave., from Sixteenth to Nineteenth St.; first a!lev east of N. Jersey St., from Thirty-Fourth St. to the first alley north of Thirtv-Third St., and the first alley northeast of Thirty-Third St., from N. Jersey St. to the first alley east of N. Jersey St. The Indiana Asphalt Paving Company waa awarded a contract for paving Keystone Ave. with asphaltic concrete from Roosevelt to Boyd Aves., at 14.49 a foot; total cost, $9,062.22. A contract for paving first alley east of Broadway from Fifty-Second to Fifty-Third St. was given to the Columbia Construction Company at $2.30 a foot; total, $3,231.04.
SCOTTISH RITE NAMES OFFICERS FOR YEAR Will T. Dobyns Elected Potent, Master of Scottish Rite. New officers of the Adoniram Grand Lodge of Perfection, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry. Valley of Indianapolis, took their seats today. At the annual meeting on Wednesday rdght will J. Dobyns was elected thrice# potent master. Other officers selected were; Deputy warden, Louis J. Buddenbaum; senior warden. Walter J. La Saulnier; junior warden, Arthur R. Robinson; orator, William W. Thornton; treasurer, Edward D. Moore; secretary, Robert G. McClure; hospitaler. Martin T. Ohr; master of ceremonies. Fred I. Willis; guard, Charles E. Cox; tyler, Frank Borns; trustee for three years, Leslie D. Clency. Membership totaled 9,545 March 31, it was reported- New members numbered 627. LOCAL MERCHANTS ELECT Elmer Steffen is new president of the East Washington Street Mer'■hants’ Association. lie was elected at the annual meeting at the Lincoln Wednesday night. Other officers: Harry Krauss. first vice president; Philip Kerz, second vice president; Ferd A. Mayer, secretary; Charles Kotteman. treasurer; Clarence Baker, Edward Ragland, Raymond Kiser and John Hartong, directors. Pickpocket Takes S3B ' pickpocket robbed W. B. Clark, 1316 Roache St., while he was boarding a street car at Illinois and Washington Sts. Clark told police today his purse containing 333 was missing.
