FINDING OF BOY’S' SKELETON RENEWS CLASS WAR PROBE Body of Leighton Mount, Missing Northwestern Student, Recovered, By United Press CHICAGO. May 1. —Discovery of the body of Leighton Mount, Northwestern University freshman, who disappeared after an alleged inter-class hazing in 1921, was followed today by renewal of widespread investigation of his deat.n. Mount’s body was discovered covered by sand and rocks in a pier near Evanston last night. Police recovered the skeleton after its presence had been reported by Henry Warren, 12, playing near tne place. Police said several feet of rope knotted about the skeleton were similar to that used in a 1921 class rush, after which, its is alleged another youth, Arthur P. Persinger, was found bound and hanging head downward to a Lake Michigan piling. Mrs. .1. L. Mount his mother, was near collapse today after identifying a belt buckle marked “L. M. ’ as that of her son’s. Police officials refuted a theory of suicide. They had to cut a hole in I'he pier, which served as a break- “■ water, to recover the skeleton. A stab wound over the heart may prove fatal to James Blackwell, colored. 1420 Brooker St., who Is at the city hospital. Blackwell told police he was talking to his sister In a restaurant in the 300 block on N. Senate Ave. late Monday night. He started to walk up the stairway at 3310t£ N. Senate Ave.. when he found Georgia Tally cf that address hiding behind a door. She was his sweetheart, he said, and demanded to know who the woman with whom he had been talking was. Blackwell said before he could answer she stahbed him. Then she assisted him up the stairway to a room and disappeared, he said. The emergency squad failed to find Georgia Tally. Ind., May I.—Muncif ministers passed resolutions today ask ing Governor McCray to call a special session of the Legislature to amend the law which now fails to make possession of liquor a violation of the law.

STATE SEEKS WAY TO RETAIN JOB BUREAU Old Appropriation May Be Used by Board. Continuation of the free employment division of the State Industrial board after Sept. 30, will depend on whether ~n appropriation, made In 1920, may be used, Samuel R. Artman, chairman of the said today. No appropriation was nihde for the department at the last session of the Legislature. Persistent calls from Evansville, Terre Haute, and Ft. Wayne, cities where the division has been In operation, led officials to make an investigation. Attorney General U. 8. Lesh has given an opinion to the effect the division might be maintained with an old and unused appropriation. Once a hungry man could find a free lunch In Indianapolis, but today Louis Pollock. 18, of 1725 Northwestern Ave., declares "those days are gone forever.” Pollock was arrested Monday night on the charge of violating the hotel law. He visited Thompson’s Dairy Lunch at 42 W. Washington St., ate a lunch that a waiter said was valued at 95 cents, and presented a blank check to the cashier, police said. Vincent Rein, night manager of the lunchroom, detained Pollock. Police said he admitted he did not have even a dime.

RATE CASE ARGUMENTS ARE SET FOR THURSDAY Hearing Will Be Concluded Before Federal Body. Final arguments in the Missouri River and Twin City freight rate cases, which were brought before the Interstate Commerce Commission by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce an dthe public service commission, will be heard at Washington, D. C., Thursday, according to word received today by George W. Moser, secretary of the chamber. The cases have been pending for two years. John H. McChord, examiner for the Interstate Commerce Commission, heard the cases. He recently recommended that freight rates from between Indiana and the West and Northwest he placed on parity with those for Illinois.
