We meet Ming Toy in the person of Miss Oliver at English’s thi-- week in gViVe will get acquaint'd with "Mem” the Ohio n> x for Sale” is revealed. Both characters have common attributes —both are concerned in romantic adventure. Little Ming Toy has an exciting time before she learns that she is white instead of being oriental. “Mem” in Goldwyn’s “Souls for Sale” comes into her own when she becomes a movie star. There is plenty of excitment before she becomes famous. Eleanor Boardman plays the role of the movie queen in the making. Others of the regular east include Richard Dix Frank Mayo. Barbara La Marr. SIX PRISONERS SHOT IN ATTEMPTED ESCAPE Others Severely Beaten When Wholesale Jail Break Ts Tried at. St. Louis. Hr/ United Press ST. LOUIS. Mo., April 27.—Six prisoners were shot by jail guards and several others severely beaten when an attempted wholesale escape from the St. Louis city workhouse was frustrated early today. Fifteen men. after sawing through the bars of their cells, were in the jail yard In search of an exit, according to the guards, who were attracted to the scene by the patter of feet in the court as the prisoners rushed hack and forth in excitement.

PURDUE PLANS LARGE BUILDING PROGRAM Bids Rejected for New President's House. By Times fipreial LAFAYETTE. Ind., April 27.—Plans for the new heating and power plant of Purdue University have been ordered by the board of trustees, following approval of the project Thursday. Cost is estimated at $300,000. Construction of an electrical engineering and poultry building will not be undertaken this year. President E. C. Elliott stated, if the board regards the cost prohibitive. Bids for the new president's house were rejected. The action followed i decision of the board which regarded the cost excessive.
