Mrs. Ba-Aer, in the presence of her four ch!ldri, shot Winkler to death and then shot herself in the side. Winkler, who is married, had been a frequent visitor to the Bakker home. April 19.—First wage increases by railroads were announced today. she Illinois Central, retroactive from April 1, granted 12,000 shopmen a raise of about 2 cents an hour, bringing the average pay of the men to 74 cents an hour. ROBBERS SHOW VARIED TASTES Wide Range of Activity Is Reported to Police, Three minor robberies of widely different character were reported to police today. Someone broke into a locker at the Fairbanks-Morse Company, Illinois and Twenty-First Sts., and stole a watch, valued at $45, belonging to Walter Cockrell, 4410 Sangster Ave., employe of the company. A black cape valued at $45 was stolen from the Lyric ballroom Wednesday night, according to Bonita Jackson, 162 E. Nineteenth St-, the owner. A burglar broke into the garage in the rear of the home of John Henry, 730 Sanders St., and stole an automobile tire, valued at sl4. BUTLERVILLE FARM WILL NOT BE MOVED Committee Recommends Improvement of Colony at Present Site. Indiana’s farm colony for feebleminded, at Butlerville will not be moved. It was announced today at the office of Governor McCray, following report of a committee appointed to consider the advisability of removal near Ft. Wayne. An appropriation of $127,000 for new buildings, provided in the budget, will be available following unanimous recommendations of the committee. The committee consists of W. E. Springer of Elizabethtown. Bernard E. Griffey of Indianapolis and C. R. Plat ter of North Vernon. Indorsement of work at the Butlerville Institution is contained In the report. PAPER THIEVES ROUTED Horse and Wagon Deserted When Watchman Sens Prowlers. Paper thieves deserted their horse and wagon in an alley near the Progress Laundry, 426 E. OWSLEY TO SPEAK HERE NEXT MONTH Marion County Legion Invites State Officers, Alvin M. Owsley, national commander of the American Legion, will be principal speaker at a Joint meeting of Marion County legion members. State officers and members of the State executive committee in Indianapolis next month, it was announced today. Preliminary plans were made for the meeting at a conference of the Marion County Commanders Association Wednesday night at the Sever! n. Dr. W. J. Hendricks, commander of the Parry-Stephenson Post, is chairman of the arrangements committee. Members are O. R. Olsen, Bert Hawkins, Earl Ferguson, Marlon Hinkle and Morris Fuller. The proposed meeting has no connection with the contemplated “love feast,” planned by the Mcllwalne-Kothe Post to solve differences between Perry Faulkner, State commander and Marion County posts, representatives at the meeting said. Faulkner has been Invited merely on account of his official connection, they said.
