BACHS RECITAL DEUGHTSAUDIENCE Artist Gives Program Entirely In C Sharp Minor, Music lovers of Indianapolis who did not hear the William Bachaus piano recital Sunday afternoon under the Ona B. Talbot auspices at the Murat Theater, missed on the most delightful concerts of the musical season. Mr. Bachaus’ superb artistry was evident in each selection of the program which in Itself was a revelation, being entirely in the key of C sharp minor. This artist seems to be fundamentally a melody lover and all his admiral technical equipment and mental powers are centered on drawing from his selection the most of real music there is in it. The Rachmaninoff “Prelude,’’ the opening number, was played differently and more beautifully than it has ever been our privilege to hear. Mr. Bachaus’ interest in tone always reaps a rich reward and in this selection and the following, Beethoven’s "Moonlight Sonata,” each single note was exquisite. The “Etudes Symphonic” iScliuman), a Chopin group of six numbers and Liszt’s “Twelfth Hungarian Rhapsody,” with several encores concluded a lovely program.—V. R.

A boy’s mother forces him to quit school, puts him to work, takes all his money and says she will take all she can get while he is young. Os course, she is a most unnatural mother. She seems to have the idea that, as she gave her ison life, she has a moral right to exploit him. But she has not. Every person is entitled to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” When this woman is old and lonely, she will realize that, by getting ail she could from her son while he was young, she lost the love she could have had when she grew older. On the other hand, you could have her arrested if she mistreats you. I do not advise that, unless all other methods fail. Instead, I suggest that you go to the minister of your church and tell hint youy story. He may be able to persuade your mother to let you go back to school. At any rate, he could see that you got part of your earnings, to which you are entitled. Or the principal of the school you attended might be able to help you in tho same way. LETTER FROM SALLY ATHERTON TO BEATRICE GRIMSHAYV, FRIENDS OF THE NEWLYWED JOHN ALDEN PRESCOTTS. Oh, Bee, I am having my troubles. Yesterday mj boss kept me very late at the office. Os course, I realize he isn’t supposed to know that after I arrive home every night I have to get my husband’s dinner, but I do think it is rather inconsiderate of himj to start to dictate to me just a little: before five and expect me to get outj the letters for him that night. Naturally, I want to be quite as! good as a man would be under the same conditions, but I noticed that when I left the office after 6 o’clock there wasn’t a male stenographer at his desk. This morning when I arrived at the office I also found Mr. Ward had not returned to sign the letters and mail them, although he said ho was staying downtown for that very purpose and he had impressed upon me the importance of their going out on the evening mail. When I arrived home it didn’t help matters any to find Sam was alreadythere, but, instead of starting anything for dinner, I found him looking decidedly surly because I was late. Ho said Mr. Ward was a hog and that, under the circumstances, he would have refused to work overtime. Now you and I know very well ho would have done nothing of the kind. Dear Bee, I have almost come to the conclusion that the old adage is right which reads, “The way to a man’s love is through his stomach." Sam should know if he thinks about my work that I must stay at the office as long as Mr. Ward wishes. I always got up quite early in the morning so that I can arrange our dinner in a way that entails the least work and Lite quickest time in getting it on the t able at night, but Sam had not even lighted the gas under the potatoes. I wonder if I am really wrong. I w onder if I have begun nty married j life by making a mistake the first thing. I wonder if no woman can be both a business woman and a-house-i keeper. I iv is so sure that I could be both, but I fin*J my nerves getting frazzled and I have begun to suspect that I am doing neither the work in the house nor the work in the office 1 with a hundred per cent efficiency. yam seems to think that his busi-i ne.s is paramount. He is always talking about how hard ho works and, some way, 1 believe ho never realizes ] that I am doing anything in the office.; That old idea that a woman never works, even If she draws a salary. Is j dying hard in the minds of men. I had an Idea that keeping house; meant nothing in tho world to do, but; I have found that keeping a housei n-at and clean and gelling appetizing: meals takes much longer time and more thinking than I had ev*-r dreamed. 800, it Is a business all by itself.
