Sixteen Indianapolis and Marion County persons are Included In the list of fifty applicants for clemency, coming before the State board of pardons at its April meeting. Two Marion County persons are Included in four cases reopened. One "lifer,” Frank W. Smith, sentenced to the Indiana State Prison Jan. 23, 1913 for murder, seeks clemency. The Marlon County applicants, three of whom are women: Mary Newton, fined and sentenced in city court Pec. 7. 1932, lor violating liquor laws. Howard Coflield, sentenced Feb. 9, 1923, o sixty days in county jail and fined Sooo for violating liquor laws. Aaron B. Pollard, sentenced June 27, 1922, to one year on Indiana State Farm and fined ?100 and cost 6 for petit larceny. Marv Caldwell, fined SSO and costs in city court Sept. 19. 1922. for violating liquor Henry Elberg. sentenced Dec. 8, 1921. to three to five years in Indiana Reformatory for vehicle taking.
