ENGINE’S WHEELS JJRISH 6RAKEMAN; DIES IN HOSPITAL Luther N, Butler, 35, Struck by Backing Loco- - motive. Luther X. Butler. 35, brakeman, 2206 English Ave., whose legs were severed when u switch engine backing near State Ave., struck him at 9:50 p. m., Tuesday, died early today at the Methodist Hospital. Police did not learn of the accident until 3 a. m. Motor Police Moriarity and Marcy investigated. Coronor Robinson was notified. Butler was working on transfer engine Xu. 6775. Frank L>. Gill, 1311 E. New York St., conductor, said he told Butler to get off and tlag an eastbound train as a cut of ears was placed in a switch. XVl,en Gill returned, William. Walsh, 4244 Baltimore Ave., switchman, told him of the accident. George X . Lucas, 7417 Deloss St., engineer, and M. H. Xoggle. 2527 E. Tenth St., fireman, were in charge of the train that hit Butler. Xoggle. only eyewitness, told police Butler was walking on the track. •iggle believed ■ he would step aside.
