M’CSAY PROPOSES FARMERS REVISE Governor Urges Settle to Eliminate Objection—Able Provisions. Governor McCray today. by letter, invited W. TT. Settle, president of the Indiana Farm Bureau, to confer with him at an early date preparatory to the drafting of anew bill, “free from the unconstitutional and other objectionable features” that were in the farm cooperative marketing till which the Governor "pocket-vetcled" late Saturday. ‘‘l am keenly anxious to be helpful to agriculture in every way possible.” the Governor said in the communication. “I regret very much that the cooperative 'marketing bill, contained features which I could not permit to be written into law.” Would Be Setback The Governor said he favored (hr principle of cooperative marketing, properly safeguarded, but could not bring himself to approve provisions of the proposed act. “I firmly believe the drastic provisions of the proposed act had been incorporated into law that true ?ooperative marketing would have been set back at least twenty years.” he explained. The Governor's letter suggests that lie and Settle, as conferees, arrange a committee to draft the new bill which would be introduced at the next session of the Legislature. land ley Scores Veto “The Governor made a mistake in vetoing the cooperative marketing bill,” Senator Alonzo Lindley, Kingman. head of the farm bloc in the Legislature, said today. “There is not much force in the oh jection that the cooperative associations could borrow an unlimited amount of money. Anybody could borrow an unlimited amount if m body would lend li. “The bill was inspected by the best of lawyers and I believe there was no doubt of its constitutionality. The farmers of Indiana wanted such a measure and Governor McCray has seen fit to deny it.” Less than 200 legislative measures, out of nearly 1,000 lulls introduced, are laws today following expiration of the time allowed Governor M Cray :o act. either by signature or disapproval. Beside the pit was Emanuel Silva, suffering from wounds which the polite said he inflicted after beating his wife to death with a mallet and virtually decapitating his mother-in-law with a knife. Police said that Silva had been building the “death chamber” for five months.
