TRICKERY CHARGED IN BILL’S DEFEAT 'SO-50' Measure Lost In Deceit, Say Women, “Trickery end deceit defeated the women's ‘fifty-fifty’ bill in the House of Representatives,” according to a bulletin issued today by headquarters of the Indiana League of Women Voters to branch leagues. It was signed by Mrs. Walter S. Grenough, president, and Mrs. Charles Arthur Carlisle, legislative chairman. The “fifty-fifty” bill allowed women equal representation on party committees. The bulletin says the bill was defeated despite th efact that “eighty per cent of the Representatives were absolutely pledged to vote for its passige.” Acceptance of the provisions of the Sheppard-Towner maternity bill and he mothers’ aid bill, among others, indented success of the women’s campaign, the bulletin said. ’JEW ANAESTHETIC IS FOUND BY PROFESSORS Eliminates Danger of laughing Gas, j Scientists Announce. lift I'nitrd I‘rcss CHICAGO, March B.—Discovery of; anew anaesthetic, eliminating the ' : neumonia dangers of “laughing gas,” was announced by University of Chieago professors today following thir■een years of research.
