CORONER PUCES SUICIDE LABEL ON CLEMENTS DEATH Still Open for Evidence in Shooting of Local Commission Man, While D. L. Phipps, coroner of Johnson County, announced that the coroner’s jury had returned a verdict of suicide in the death of William E. Clements, 52, of Southport, he also made it plain today that he was willing to hear any further evidence in the case. Clements was half owner in the firm of George B. Walton & Cos., 207 E. Maryland St., commission merchants. He walked from the store early Friday. When he failed to return and did not arrive at home, friends asked the police to search for him. James Malone and Thomas Smith, farmers, on their way to work in Greenwood early Saturday, found Clements’ body. Clements was sitting in the back seat of his automobile, a bullet through his heart. A revolver lay beside him. The automobile was on the Honey Creek Road, two and a half miles southwest of Greenwood. Clements' funeral will be held at his residence in Southport at 2 p. m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Clements is survived by two sisters Mrs. Richard Chenoweth of New York and Mrs. Maro Thompson of St. Louis. Henry Fingerly, Clements’ business partner, said Clements had been despondent since the death of his wife about a year ago.

Love Story Filmed in Natural Colors; Splendid Handling of Lights Music Aid

By WALTER D. HICKMAN MOVIELAND boasts of something new. Movie experts for some time have been trying to make movies in natural colors. At the Ohio this week Is “The Toll of the Sea," which is announced" as the first natural color movie, ..■■-&V.4 meaning that the picture was not gpmry tinted after it was BA** made. On the same bill Is anew GoldX/i ST ' wyn photoplay, “Gimme,” with Kate I,ester, Helene Chadwick and A v CTIP- others. The natufojyAifc ral c °l° r movie visuallzes fairyland, *7?-' a Chinese love KATE LESTER paradise. This pic-, ture was made by the Technicolor Motion Picture Corporation. Here we have in natural colors the beauty of a Chinese garden. This natural color process is new and may take some little time before a movie audience adjusts itself to this sudden Introduction to natural beauty. The director has been very bold, as this old Chinese legend has a most unhappy ending. It tells the story of the oriental marriage of an American and a Chinese girl. He sails away and forgets. She remains in China with a broken heart until a son is born. The American returns with his American wife and the crushed little China lady gives her son to the pretty American wife. Then the sea claims the broken hearted little Chinese girl as a victim. Although the ending is sad. there is •j much beauty in this photoplay that me really forgets the tear at the end of the story. Anna May Wong as the little Chinese wife is as pretty a picture as one would want to see. In contrast to the sadness of this movie is “Gimme," anew Goldwyn comedy affair. The women will love this one because the modern business

woman has the last word In this story. The story preaches this slogan: Marriage is a fifty-fifty proposition. The wife teaches her husband the lesson that a wife should not be forced to ask her husband for an allowance, but that she has the right, to 50-50 of all the money. A husband doesn’t like to heat his wife say “gimme” every time she wants anew dress. She knows she is entitled to it without saying “gimme.” The expert services of Helene Chadwick, Gaston Glass, Kate Lester and H. B. Walthall are used in telling this smart little story. This nicely balanced bill is on view all week at the Ohio. -I- -I- -ILights and Music Used to Great Success at Circle Modest Altschuler Is doing something new and mighty fine at the Circle this week. He is mixing lights and melody. During the playing of the overture, “Raymond,” which precedes the Valentino movie, “The Young Rajah,” lights are played on a big vase on the stage. With every change in the musical mood of the overture, lights are so played upon the vase in such a way to reflect the mood of the music. This idea is new to me and it is being successfully introduced by Mr. Altschuler at the Circle this week. As an encore, the orchestra is playing a Russian novelty, called “The Mosquito Song.” The new conductor at the Circle Is Introducing many new ideas. He is making the musical part of the Circle program a real drawing card. Interest of many this week at the Circle Is centered upon Rudolph Valentino In “The Young Rajah." Many people are Interested in Ruddy regardless of the vehicle. It is Ruddy that the crowds want to see. Valentino In this picture really does not have the chance to act as he had in “Blood and Sand.” It was in this picture that Ruddy convinced the

screen world that he could actually act. In “The Young Rajah” he doesn't have a chance to do anything worth while. Oh, yes, he makes love beautifully, rolls his eyes while making love, but eye rolling isn’t acting to me. If Ruddy rebelled from appearing in such stories as “The Young Rajah," then I am for him. Please rerfiember I may be In the minority in this matter because the Circle is playing to capacity' or started out that way yesterday. I am convinced that it is Valentino that the public wants, not the story. He is the whole works. Have your own idea about this one. Thank you.
