PRISONERS ME OUT Or SKIRMISH WITH BLACK EYES Cellroom at City Lock-up Is Setting for ‘Free-for-AI!, 1 Police told today how, in the wee small hours Sunday morning, there was a free-for-all battle in the cell room at police headquarters among some of the twenty-nine men sched-: uled to appear in city court today to answer charges of drunkenness. While the police were not able to tell which of the prisoners caused the • rouble, they took Ed Barret, 24, of 446 Shelby Su. out of the cellroom and put him into a private cell downstairs. That ended the battle. Barret was charged with drunkenness and failing to pay a taxi bill. He is said to have claimed that Clarence Harris, 2.x, of 743 W. New York St., arrested on similar charges, had caused the trouble in the cellroom. • iohn Brenan, 19. of 527 E. TwentyFifth SL, charged with drunkenness, is said to have received a pair of black eyes in the battle. James Richcreek, whose name also appeared on the slate at Jerome Sweet, 34, of 2435 Bellefontaine St., is said to have suffered a split lip. Turnkey John Peak arrested two men Saturday night on charges of assault ar.d battery and drunkenness. The men gave their names as William Patterson, 115 W. Thirtieth St., and Nutt of 132Vg W. Ohio St. A free-for-all battle in an automobile in the 1900 block on S. Iveystone Ave„ resulted in the arrest of men giving their names as Herbert Grimsley, 2014 Ashland Ave., and George Martin, of Anderson, Ind.. police said. A third man was said to have been so far under the influence of liquor that he could not give his name. The three were charged with drunkenness by Motor Police Amsden and Hyland.
